Regardless, BF2142 isn't going to be anything like Battlefront, no pew! pew! laser guns. There will be an awesome Star Wars mod called First Strike that's expected to release on it though.

I kind of liked the other guy who posted a picture of his Battlefield 2 CD's broke in half, more to the point and somewhat permanent.

    anyways, later old man.
btw on the subject of broken discs, who many of u guys have bought copies to replace ur existing 1 cos its craked in the middle or broken in half?

not only has EA f**ked up bf2, the discs and the cases are flawed!
    1) the discs
if u look at ur bf2/SF disc u will c that the inner ring is entirely plastic, and if u look at any others, there completely different!
the discs were built for mass production and not for lasting
(btw i think its a ploy to make us buy more discs so they get more money!)
    2) the case
now if it isnt the discs that are the prob, its the case
do u c any game that has THAT TYPE of holder for a disc! (apart from Sf)
    no, neither have i
because of that mechanism it is puting stress on the disc, causing it to crack (and if still plays after cracking thro the inner part) ends up breaking the disc in half!
gee, thanks alot EA, u money whoring smacktards!

bf1942 and dc were brilliant tbh i loved them, spitfires and mustangs ftw

i also enjoyed vietnam - altho it had some issues and bugs i still thought it was a lot of fun, the chinook + other vehicles, napalm etc i thought it was really cool

but i have thought about it and comparing the enjoyment of the previous games compared to bf2, it cant compare vietnam and 1942 were way more fun imo
probably cos they werent full of rank whoring smacktards but meh, its sad but there is always going to be more games coming out and one of them has to be good

no way am i getting 2142 mwhahahahahahahahhaha

ETQW for moi im hoping that will be as enjoyfukl and have the little qwerks i like

Fortgotten Hope lives on inside the wreckage of BF1942 and will do so inside the hulk of bf2. FH kicks ***!
i bet EA is pissed that a couple of guys could actually make a mod/game better than them
as for 2142, the future is so, SO unclear, and all we can do is wait.....

    Fantasic post!

For myself, I'll proably end up getting the new game just because but I have a feeling I'll still play a lot of BF2. The fact is I want to be a soldier and well as much as the game looks cool it's not got stuff I can look at in books and know people really fight with these.

EA should fix their product though and honestly, I hope Forgotten Hope kills 2142 in a bad way.

That isn't what they were touting a year and half ago when it first released.

And who are you calling old man?

    Thanks for the correction.

Another squashed MOD, although not a direct result of EA/Dice was the Star Wars MOD. Soon after the announcement of the Beta 2 release of this MOD, the announcement of Lucas Arts Star Wars Battlefront came, using the BFV Engine this game was seen as the only hope for a space based war simulator. The strategy worked because the Star Wars MOD only released a few more Betas and was never heard from again.

Is Star Wars Battlefront using the same engine from an existing game?
No, the engine for Star Wars Battlefront is a brand new engine developed by Pandemic Studios.

This is not only a complete analysis of the BF series... but also a great historic point of view...

You know why the work of pulling a new mod is so hard on BF2? Because EA does not give much support to the modding community... why? money.. if you keep releasing mods for Battlefield, you extend the "lifetime" of the game, so less ppl will buy the next EA product cause they are busy playing mods for an allready purchased game...

That was the 'doom' of BFV, al the ppl playing DC and Fotgotten Hope on BF1942... that's why BFV never was the great game that EA promise...

Now, is the same history... less than half a year for the new release of a EA product, there is only 3 or 4 good mods playable for BF2, and no support for them... they are fighting alone.

If you calculate, BF42 last almost 3 years with considerable amount of players (thanx to DC and FH).. BF2 is only 1 year old and is about to be punched on the stomach with BF2142.. a MOD for BF2 dressed as a new game...

Bottom line, is all about money... not about a great product.

EA does not learn from the experience of Half Life.. the oldest game on the market wish is still played by millions of gamers.... why? cause of mods (CS)... EA only want's to sell and sell.. and there is no problem with that IF they are selling a good product.. but is not the case.

    My 2 cents.

You forget to add the performence problems for high end systeem
and loading times that increase with a multiplyer of 3 times

i agree completly. Very good post Radar-C}{G-. Wish EA would read it and think about what they are doing. Im not buying 2142, even tho it looks good. Im not spending another penny for EA until they actually fix the games that they make.

I'm not buying BF2142 unless they fix BF2. Simple as that.

Our leading clan-ladder in Australia still remains locked (how many months now?) because we can't complete one hour in-game without either several players crashing to desktop, or the server crashing entirely. Add on to that the slap-in-the-face that was the removal of unlocks on unranked servers. And added onto that, we still have AT rockets disappear, and this is a problem that has existed since the game was released. And there's no end in sight.

If you think I'm going to fork out cash for the new game, given this track-record of achievement, you've got rocks in your head.
