I played Anti-Tank for a bit lately (mostly on Dragon Valley) and it's definitely tough to take out enemy armor but it's worth it for the joy of rocketing jeeps, buggies, and boats. I think the Chinese SMG is badass too, was mowing down guys left and right in close quarters.

I go AT most of the time.

It just irks me to go into the game with no defense against vehicles, in such a vehicle heavy game.

I'll take the crappy stats it produces, to have some defense against vehicles. I do alright with the other weapons given with the AT role.

When figting infantry you just have to be a little smarter about how you go about things. You can't run headlong into the fishfloppers and citymap people, you have to scurt the edges of infantry battles and pick and choose your spots.

Anyone standing still for any ammount of time is a target for my AT round too. Sorry, it's just more accurate then shooting and watching them scurry away and heal themselves.

I really don't see anything wrong with the AT/Armour balance, it's one of many that are "just right", or as right as they will ever be.

Let's face it , if reality is your standard, then there are no game that will fit the bill. I waiting for a shooter that has two mice involved in it. One for the forward post of an iron sight , one for the rear peep hole. That would be realisitc. To think some one can just lift a weapon to their shoulder and have a perfect cheek to stock form every time, is insane. Cheek to stock is what gives you 90% of your accuracy in shooting any assault rifle, but yet it's done automatically in every shooter.

I have to admit like most of you have said AT may not be good for points but the Eryx/SRAW can be a hell of a lot more fun then a standard gun, Like for instance you can use it as a sniper rifle against infantry :p or at least i do xD
You can also use it as a close quarters weapon if u have to take someone out in one shot... Ahhh sweet memories

agreed... over the wkend, 4-5 of us went AT on Oman64, captured the Construction Site, and proceeded to rain AT rockets down on the MEC main from the hill behind it. We had 1 medic, and the rest AT. Commander dropped us a box for resupply.

Not one of us had a decent k/d ratio or won a medal, but it was one of the best times I've had playing. Raping the Havoc and apc before they could get out of base, shooting the transport helo before it could get away, was mad fun...

agree with Kurt, out of all the classes i've played the AT class has to be the least rewarding in terms of points, K/D ratio (it the only one i have a negative KD score with) and every other stat you can think of. Taking out armour with those missiles has to be one of the most dangerous jobs in the game. I salute you guys who do it, you crazy crazy f***s!

There's nothing remotely overpowered about the AT class. I play it a fair amount and it can be a pretty unrewarding class (points-wise) to play. You often do a lot of work for little reward as most people have the sense to bail from badly damaged vehicles.

The DAO-12 is a cracking unlock though for close combat if you play the right way. Obviously avoid medium to long distance encounters but get em close up and you've got a dman good chance with it. In addition, when shooting vehicles, get as close as you can so you can get em with your DAO-12 when they bail.

Anyway, it's an unrewarding class to play if you're into points but cracking fun if you're not that bothered. I think the tiny advanatge of being able to blow stuff close up is far outweighed by the infelxibility of your weapons.

AT is my favourite kit. Sure, my stats are crap due to a noob learning curve, but as of a few months ago I became very competent and tactical with this kit. I don't want to sound ponderous or anything but there's a certain honour involved. Me versus the big metal beast.

I can live with the fact that in BF2 one AT unit can do what in real life takes 3.
In real life one rocket is enough to take out a tank. Shouldn't that be the other way around?

    Just think...
In a real war if you had a way of dropping a jeep or crate or whatever on the ememy you damn well would use it... if not you're a sorry tactician...

In a real war you were being shot at and hopping around kept you alive long enough to get to cover-- you would...or die !

I just wish the game was more realistic in the spirit of > YOUR JOB IS TO KILL THE FREAKING ENEMY< > WITH ANY MEANS AVAILABLE<

I guess some people would complain if david tripped goliath instead of just trying to sling a rock into his eye...lmfao

wow, thats some rant. Its a GAME! and yes us AT guys have by far the lower hand against tanks/APC's, even humvee's/vodniks! i play pretty much only AT, about 165 hours so far out of 185 and the fact that i have a kill/death ratio of 1.06 is pretty good for my class. (im sure others have higher but they are also using the class in jets/armours/commanders etc. but im pure infantry only, bar using taxi's to places generally..well sometimes tanks)

I agree with schaef2k...for me its about helping the team...
And those sweet gifts of lesser vehicles loaded with enemy are so nice when using at...
Nobody should complain about any of the in game un-realistic physics when bs server 'roe' can tell you you can't hop, can't use every tool available (- cheating) to kill the freaking enemy...
    Just my opinion

I play both engineer (armor whore) and AT alot and I don't think I've ever thought to myself "wow!, those AT guys sure are over powered"

Playing AT usually means you are going to get the smack laid down on you very often. I don't play it to "totally p0wnz0r" (and I don't either :p) I play it because sometimes nobody wants to to the dirty work and taking out that tank (or at least damaging it) is huge to my team even if I die doing it.

Don't me wrong sometimes kills fall in your lap, loaded jeep, hummer or helo just taking a casual drive around and BOOM!!! 3 or 4 kills. Taking out an AC with it is just gold Jerry....gold!

I personally like people spawning as anti tank when im in armour :). When they fire at me, i back up : line up my site into the path of the eryx and little anti tank goes bye bye :)

    awwwwwwwwwwww:cry:

little tip: When your in a lav, and you get hit twice with an eryx, sometimes it will start to bleep, jump out, have the wrench handy and spend 2-3 secs repairing it, and then jump in and get outta there. It will stop the thing blowing up:).You many get lucky you may not.

Yeah, the AT class gets owned a lot. I went 5 and 21 last night on Oman as AT... Mostly due to my inexperience with AT (and the 8 deaths from jets/helos because my team had no one in the sky), but aside from that, it's tough as AT - when you are taking out armor, not infantry.
