I started having the same problem a couple of days ago, game would freeze after a few seconds, forcing me to hard reboot. But then it got worse, I hard rebooted and it came up with a message: 'boot from CD' and there was nothing I could do to make it boot from the HD. The only way I could get my comp up and running was to format the hard drive and reinstall windows. I decided to give BF2 another go, thinking it would be fixed now that I'd reformated. The comp crashed again, and the same message appeared when I tried to reboot and I was forced to reinstall windows.

Can anyone suggest what could cause this? I daren't test BF2 now that they say the problem is fixed because its not just a simple crash. Help would be appreciated.

Have you tried a system restore,might work.

im still getting freeze ups. Any ideas? I tried the ip from the previous page and numerous others.

I think my problems are over.. I don't know what did it.. Haven't played for like 2 weeks or something got home from vacation in Croatia.. Did a PB Update via the PBSetup file.. tried to play on our own clanserver.. and it worked played 6 rounds or something without any freezes whatsoever Try a PB update maybe it helps:)

you obviously didnt read read all the posts in this forum,without asking for a cookie i would say if it wasnt for me and a few other guys pestering PB to sort it out and then going on the PB server with a PB tech to try and fix it ,you would still be getting freeze ups mate.wheres my damn cookie i want one now.

I keep getting the "Lost Connection" message as soon as i join servers.

Thing is, my client seems to have the ability to crash servers when i join them. I don't know how to fix this problem, i know it's not PB because it still occurs on PB-disabled servers. I even did what the guy above suggested and updated my PB client.

I've not changed anything in my computer or anything and i've been playing BF2 for one year. These problems just started happening when i woke up a few days ago. Don't know what to do. A clan mate told me to reinstall BF2 and patch 1.3 full, so i did and it seemed to fix it for a while, but now it is happening again.

Just means i can't play BF2 anymore!

Anyone else the same as me? Any help?

Raven, i am the same as you! I can pretty much pick a server and join and crash it on the spot!
The problem is, my problem is very intermittent, it is the same as all the other problems here, i.e Game freezes within 1 minute after joining. If ya wait it boots you back to server browser and says "your connection to the server has been lost" But it happens on and off, one day it will work fine all day and the the next morning no go! Go to work for the day and get home and it works again! WTF!!

I cant see how it can be a punkbuster issue, as mine has been happening for over a month now - placebo maybe?

Wow..At least i'm not the only one. I've just been playing special forces ALL NIGHT! with no server crash. It's like a time bomb...You never know when it's going to crash the thing.

Yeah absolutely!
I have been doing some research this morning and found that certain servers are OK and others are not!
I have a huge list in front of me with all the server names on it and which are good or bad!
