...The other servers will empty out leaving those with common sense who care little about scores without a decent server to play on, who will then quit. Eventually those infantry only people will realize how crap infantry only is at which point it'll be too late as the BF2 population has evaporated right out from under their noses, they'll get bored and quit too. Game dead, GG DICE...

Come down m8 there will be plenty of conquest serveres left.
The community has been asking for another game mode as long as this game exists. So how can it be that everyone is bitching now that we might get one.
Remember this is a open beta it is still time to change things but this "its all so bad" flame thread is not going to do any good.

Of course you whinge about infantry only mode, The majority of people who do whinge about this are the tank/plane/chopper whores that are completely useless without their precious vehicles. Granted some will claim not to be veh whores, but in war and battles there are many different situations when vehicles are not the answer, for logistical, tactical of geographical reasons. Now BF2 will be able to cater for this. I think its a great idea!!!

This is a different game mode to cater for the majority of non veh whores to give another element to the game for those who want it. Also stalemates in a battle have happened many times in the past and is a fact of battle. So whichever team employs the better tactics and teamwork will eventually break through and win.

Do you people think that there have never been conflicts/battles without the use of armour and aircraft? Think about jungle warfare, close quarter battles etc. You'll find that the majority of BF2 players want this mode. So if you dont like it, go play on another server and enjoy vehicle whoring.

I can't help but wonder am I the only infantry player that actually enjoys jumping under the treads of a tank to escape, or sprinting around a building trying to escape that circling attack helicopter? Infantry combat is deep when taking in to account dealing with certain vehicles, whether that be evading them by hiding behind a building, or grabbing an AT kit/tow missile and blowing them away.

Oh, and one more point I'd like to drive home. The lack of even basic transport vehicles will make camping a real problem. Look at how some maps play out even with transport vehicles, camping from across the Karkand river ect. The game stalemates and gets boring because nobody can break through. How do they finally break through? Vehicles of course. It's next to impossible to cross the Karkand river when both teams are fighting on opposite sides without loading your squad up in to an HMMV and rushing across the water and hoping an AT rocket doesn't catch you.

Without vehicles, such situations are virtually guaranteed to turn in to huge camping - die - and revive fests. Gee that sure sounds fun!

Do you know what vehicles are GOOD for?

They induce FEAR! Without that "fear factor".... the game gets old and boring VERY fast.. That feeling of a plane flying over head and the sound of bombs blowing up right next to you, and that chopper spinning up above... and you go run and hide from it..

THAT is what MAKES this game... without it.... TBH.. I think it is just going to be completely lame.



Hell... now they are making you ****ing invincible... to cater for the new players.

You know what... it shouldn't take 4 grenades to kill you... it shouldn't take 4 sniper shots to kill you... it shouldn't take 2 knife hits to kill you... it should be JUST like in the normal BF2.

Titan is a new game mode that will make sense and I'm interested about. Infantry only is a shoddy game mode detrimental to a game highly dependant on its vehicles.

I really really really hope DICE Sweden will be handling everything dealing with 2142 and DICE Canada never ever touches it at this point.

Get real man, some of us like the idea of Infantry only, and please, dont tell me to go play Counterstrike. I did, i played it since the original better and the two games arent even comparable. There will still be plenty of servers where u can continue to base rape with your plane and whore as many points as humanly possible.

I've played competitively in real competition games like Call of Duty on CAL for years now. Not to toot my own horn, but I'm very good in Counter strike source as well which takes leagues more skill than the infantry "combat" in this game.

Like I said, don't let the PlaneWhore nickname fool you. I was fragging people in Quake rocket arena while you were still in diapers.

I've played with plenty of people on these forums, and as they can attest to, I'm excellent at playing infantry, and if you doubt these people and myself, you can catch me playing medic on StrafeRight 24/7 City Maps (I'll be the medic at the top of the scoreboard with a 5:1 infantry KDR). Sorry I had to be so blunt but I'm tired of being accused of being nothing more than a "PlaneWhore". I'm speaking more from my infantry side than anything, but sure my love of airplanes comes in to it to. This mode is flat out bad for everybody, and it doesn't matter if you're a heliwhore, infantrywhore, armorwhore, planewhore, or all four.

edit: that fact me and Colony made nearly identical posts is sort of creepy.

You are completely and utterly wrong. I am an entirely infantry based player, and this increased hp mode for this game is going to do exactly what the original poster said. It will completely ruin this game.

It is absolutely unbelievable that these developers could be so utterly stupid and not realise that this would happen with this completely unwanted gameplay change.

lol @ the veh h03s whineing..., personally i think IO mode is great!, ok so sort the increased health issues just leave it as it is in vanilla. IO gives BF2 a completely different depth of play.

As for someone saying snipers dont get one shot one kill? WOT BS! i had a 22/2 round last night with the L96a1 without even trying! Lots of one shot one kill, very nice sniper map indeed but at the same time lots of cover for other infantry against snipers too.

I think we need to weed out the whineing about the lack of vehicles and concentrate on polishing the gameplay, this could be an amazing gamemode for teamplay and a welcome change for those who are totally sick of armour whoreage and spawn raping.

It seems that this map ISNT going to be full on karkand style massacre but its more like going to contain lots of small pockets of fierce fighting.

Well done Dice with that additions I for one love it once youve tweekd it a little in various areas i think it wil become VERY popular.

I've been playing BF2 since day one. I'm not a noob, and didn't I say I dont give a Sh*t about counterstrike you retard! Alot of people want to see the game adapt and add new features. So stop your whinging noob!!!
