I do try to spot a lot in other games too... It's kind of... sad?

I spot everything, and if I see an AA tank sometimes I stay still and keep it spotted till it's gone. Wish more people would.

I always do, I go prone, bring up the sights "tap Q and hit fire, then keep tapping fire till the f***ers dead", unless it's a tank, then I just spot it and run

I spot everything I see, and it usually dies soon after. That is, unless I'm flying with a nub pilot.

I spot all the time, and its really nice when others spot things as well, especially snipers. I love to hunting them

I just don't like it when commander spams spot, spotting enemies not anywhere near players (nor are they armor or aircraft), also, i hate commanders who spam spotting the same person like a bajillion times.

Maybe there is a reason that the commander is spotting them. Go kill them and get easy points.

I usually spot but I focus on the high value targets rather than lone troops. If I'm commanding I try not to spam and only spot if I have assets in the area that can counter. Or if I think I see a sniper during scans. If I do spam it's because our team has a pest problem that needs to be eliminated for the good of all. But if nobody hunts it down I give up; after that soldier kills enough of our guys, then they'll go after it when they get really annoyed.

New commanders seem to do this a lot since they don't know that you have to be zoomed in all the way in order for the red-dots to show up on the minimap after they've spotted them.
If you're not zoomed in all the way afaik no matter which red dot you point at, it will keep pointing out the same initial dot on the map.

The lone wolver he spotted out in nowhereland might be on his way to destroy commander assets, or setup a major ambush. So he wants you to know that there's someone out there. Has helped me many times to sneak up on that specops trying to plant his charges or setting up an ambush.
It's just like in a football game. You want to keep that pressure on your opponent for as long, and as intense as you can.
Sneaky bastids shall not be tolerated, but attacked immediately

I, like everyone who plays BF2 has the spot twitch. But the game engine doesn't seem to respect that. So "Enemy forces spotted".

Yeah I get that, sometimes I look right at a tank and spot it and the engine doesn't recognise that it's a tank

i spot tanks and APC's not the troops. A question as well. if you just hit spotted without specifying. Tank troop plane whatever does it show the thing if its around or is it jsut hte question mark?

Wow. Looks like everyone is on the 'same enemy boat spotted' then :)

I too spot before I shoot, re-spot tanks when needed and spot planes and choppers whenever I can.

As already mentioned, if you think someone is shooting at you and you think you know the direction, then press Q, right-click and choose 'soldier'. If someone is really there then they'll appear as a red dot on the minimap. If not it'll just be a question mark.
