Usually I only play on Dutch/Belgium/German/English Servers because they have low pings =) My lowest ping was I thought 9 or something. Usually I go on servers with a max. ping of 70
I live in the UAE (Dubai) so there are no good servers. Im lucky if i get one of around 150. I have never been below 130 with my pings and never go on ones where im over 250. Shame really. There are no asian or middle eastern servers up so i end up joining a european on. Often its a German on. and this is all with a 2mb connection. lol
On my favorite servers, I steady ping 10 - 30.
I refuse to go much higher than 100, though that is preferable to lower pings with spikes. As one who has gamed over the years, playing with steady pings as high as ~350 (we're talking the mid-late 90's here), I've concluded that, for myself, high ping is a significant disadvantage. You can compensate (I used to lead people with my rail gun in QII), but I find I have the most fun when I play on uber low ping servers. I'm fortunate in that I have a 10mbps/800kbps cable connection, as I seem to have lower pings than my friends (they average 50 - 100 on the same servers).
