First lesson.

Never finance a depreciating asset.

Depreciating asset is anything you purchase that loses value over time. That includes cars, computers, jewelery, clothes, etc.

The only things you should finance are your house and your college education.

Wow so there goes the logic of 99% of the CFOs in the Fortune 500, not to mention every medium to small business in the nation, because now we have been suddenly enlightened that they're all really idiots because they finance those new production facilities, technology-based equipment & sales/production inventory, rather than waiting 3 years to hoard up enough cash to buy what they need to grow their businesses... while in the meanwhile, their competition has leveraged their cash flow and turned their short- or medium-term debt on an expense that bottom lines as a rapidly depreciate-able asset into greater market share and growth that completely offsets the percentage they're paying on the initial loan.

Glad to know that they're all idiots, that everyone's a bonehead, who finances anything other than real estate or a BA. Hello every large corporation in the world? Your wake up call has just come from a BF2 player!

you can tell from this thread alone, that the gaming industry probably has a closer knit with hardware companies than we think.

the only thing i can say i purchased just for the sake of bf2 was a gig stick of ram $129, and i upgraded my original card to a more expensive card when the other broke, adding another $100 dollars for the difference in the cards' values.

I spent about 70$ for the game itself with taxes(in canada) then another 50$ for SF i got a new microphone like 25 box(a cheap 1) so it cost me 155$ to play and i got EF free so...

$110 for a half-decent video card so I could play it, $45 for extra RAM, $50 for BF2, $30 for Special Forces, $10 for Armored Fury.

Also got a new computer for $800 sometime in between, but BF2 was not the reason.

Let's see~ ... I spend $53 for the game and the special forces expansion, now I will soon pay for a new motherboard, Asus SLI-Premium ($300), 1 GB of RAM ($100), GeForce 7600GT Graphics Card ($200) and umm- yeah that's pretty much it... it's going to be worth it >.> I know it!

hmmm, i upgraded crappy Dell4600 2.4Ghz 865PEmobo,onboard sound, 40gig hard drive,512MB RAM,Nvidia 5200FX 128MB to the following( i wouldnt blame it all on BF2, like HD was needed for music, and i use my machine for development too so ram is handy there etc ):
330 Euro - X850Pro
90 Euro - 160Gig HD
130 Euro- X-Fi Extememusic
160Euro - 2 Gig RAM( PC3200 cos im planning on upgrading CPU )
45 Euro - GPU Fan
30 Euro - Joystick
BF2 Game( 30 Euro + SF 30 Euro )
Total: 845 Euro - Ouch
Makes me cry now, lol, because my PSU is crap and using a 2.4Ghx P4 is crap, so i need to get a new processor, looking at AMD 4000+, mobo, PSU( one i have must be about to die as its limiting my GPU overclocking ) and case, that'll be another 600Euro, but hopefully i can revert my current machine back to where it was at + a few extras and flog it for around 300Euro, which means another 300Euro should have me a decent spec'd PC, but overall it'll have cost me over 1100Euro.

But i used to play the playstation a lot more and you're talking 300euro a year just on games, grrr, but i stopped that now as it looks crap even comparing it to my current PC and online games for the PC just roxz

Its worth it though, cos i pay around 360Euro a year for satilite tv and i dont watch it half as much as i use the computer and i bought my comp 3 years ago, so it'll have worked out at around 300euro a year, which in future i think ill just put aside every year to keep it upto date instead of taking all the upgrades in 6 months

i bought a whole new computer, and monitor. total of around 1800. just for bf2. the first time i saw the trailer i was sold.

i plan on getting an amd 64 x2 4200 when amd has there major price drop. that processor at $240 usd. cant beat it.
