I believe it has to be connected either to a parachute or very low-speed jet flying.
          I think you nailed it.

I do not in anyway condone the admins actions but I understand his frustration. If you can't hit anything without going 180Km/h you don't belong in a plane. However my anger is usually directed at the pilots in my own team, not shooting down a plane that's barely moving forward is horrible.

Here's how it worked back then.

Get to the edge of the roof of a tall building, look up, straight up into the air.

Jump off and continue to press the jump key very quickly. You will not fall straight down, but you will gently glide down to the ground at a very shallow angle of descent. Its as if you were hang gliding. People used to use it to cross rivers and access normally unaccessable areas of maps.

But that was BF1942 and I seem to recall it being patched out of the game... I dont think it exists in BF2.
I believe in bf1942 it was termed the "superman cheat", from how you explained it, and if i remember correctly. Which I do.
Personaly this dont mean much, but im sure in regards to this post, its what others have been saying........ "gliding the jet" rather then actually flying it.]
Personally i'd rather have a jet guy do this so its easier to kill em.

This is their definition strait off their forum

                Hang gli•ding
                1. v: situation in which a plane pilot reduces throttle to a minimal velocity and travels so slow that the aircraft begins to stall, causing it to plunge into a tree, ground, ocean, small child, etc. Joystick users are notorious for employing this method on the battlefield.
                2. v: gliding in a hang glider (not related to BF2)

                Hang gli•der
n: one who partakes in the above scenario (i.e. fat people: large mass causes plane to lose velocity at astounding rates)

unbelieveable, how dare a pilot use a perfectly legitimate method of getting rid of an aircraft on his six .

Whats next, I can't scope my rifle to shoot people?

Their server, their rules. THats the way it is.

I might add, that although this rule might sound eccessive.......at the same time it sorta makes me feel they are only trying to provide a fun time for all on the server.
                          Again......just a feeling.

Last I checked, restricting vehicles or use thereof is against the ROE. ROE trumps "their server". What next? Choppers can't hover? Get out of the genepool please.

well then I guess we gotta report every server that has a "commander cant use armor" rule right ?

but ya the rule is to basicly supress spawn rape cause we all know how rapetastical wake is

that sounds like a perfectly fair thing to do, and if you can fly the plane like that and not stall/get raped by AA, more power to you.
