Fact is, the broken unstable state its in now BF2 simply doesn't deserve to be played. I know I've played it a fraction of the time I used to since 1.3 hit. If it's not server lag, it's crashing. If it's going well, you will inevitably hit "problem with your connection" even though of course there is nothing wrong. Often you can barely scrape through a few rounds before *something* goes wrong somewhere along the way. I've seen servers that used to be almost impossible to get onto (64 or 32 player ones that you were guaranteed a fun and fair game on) only a week or so ago now completely empty the vast majority of the time. Nothing up with them, people just don't want to play the game right now with the state it's been left in.

I'll keep playing occasionally until the next hotfix. I don't have many problems, the occasional CTD or disconnect. No big deal, it's just a computer game and I could always try a different one. If I let it frustrate me it isn't fun anymore. And there are always books to read. The library lets me check out 40 movies at a time if I get bored with my collection. I could do my workout. Play with my kids. Ride my bike through the woods. Go fishing. Go to Dairy Queen. Bed the wife. Change the oil in the car. Mow the lawn. Cook a big meal to freeze.

Computer game addicts should seek help.

And what makes you think 2142 is going to be annnnny different? There will still be dolphin divers, there will still be bunny hoppers and im pretty damn sure there will still be claymore spammers and explosive throwers (whatever that explosive may be)

Really, why are you under the impression its going to be any different? Its the same engine, same style of gameplay.

Ah.. now I challenge you to take a look at what is real, and what is imaginary.

I am under the impression it'll be different, and for good reasons. Those reasons, I'll leave for you to find.

couple of things.

Mods, will sell MORE copies of the orginial BF2. There is no doubt in this. Some folks bought BF1942, 2 years AFTER its release, simply because they stumbled upon the Desert Combat Mod. This is fact. At its pinicle, Desert Combat is responsible for many, many BF1942 sales. (contrary to bf1942 itself)
It would be an extremely feasible responsibility for EA/DICE to give a few of the seemingly popular mod teams complete disclosure, or even give 1 or 2 EA/DICE employees, complete dedication for 1 or 2 months, to these mod teams. Perhaps even giving them old, laying around statics, textures, vehicals that never made the game, and never will. If EA/DICE, at this point, insured that 1 or 2 mods became Desert Combat like, in the form of popularity, the money reaped from sales would surely pay off. WIthout doubt.
This in turn would even wipe out some animosity from would be buyers of 2142, and turn them into buyers of the game, down the road. After all 2142 is a different game, then all the others in the bf series. Same in effect, however very different. Almost a completely different genre.

Is BF2 dying? Yes. Of course it is. The numbers are getting lower every day. Servers are dropping every day. With news of a new game almost less then a year from the release of bf2, this should be expected, in my mind.
Im fairly certain, within 9 months, bf2 will be 1942 like, in the form of numbers playing, and servers running. Even if people are playing say, forgotten hope, 9 months from now, they arnt really playing bf2.
I like bf2 alot. I used to love it. Now I just sorta like it. Its fun.

If EA/DICE had let the players get more involved with their game like beta testing patches, etc, we would not be having these kind of posts today.

Some changes that were made should have never went live and if properly tested by the gaming public, I personally think we would have a greater game to this day.

HILARIOUS. I hadn't checked this thread for a few days. It wasn't my intention to flame you - obviously you missed some of my own sarcasm.

I do hope to collect that pimpslap in game (and pass along a couple of my own to you) so send me a pm about where you play normally and we'll see.

Until then I will continue to critique you whenever it suits me.
