Well, hopefully (I've heard that before lol) this rumored 1.4 patch will fix some of this sh1t. It sounds good anyway.

Who cares, BF3 is on the way. And i already know of someone who fiddled with the engine, tank shells can blow holes through buildings, soldiers leave footsteps in the ground, etc. Cant wait for that i know minimum ram requirement is 2 gig. EA knows BF2 was a huge hit, its because people like modern day warfare and they can relate to it. Thats why.

But who can relate to 2142?

If EA/DICE doesn't change the following things with the next patch, this game is certainly dead:

-No ip, port and server name shows up as you join server
-Game crashes to desktop much more often now
-Server crashes very often, especially if the maps doesn't rotate much. Average uptime on our server is now around 2 hours. With 1.22, it would stay up for weeks without no problem.
-Mods have to be edited SEVERELY after new patches. Be careful with the source code!
-Unlocks must be allowed on unranked servers
-The karkand hotel hack must be removed
-Lots of smaller bugs and hacks

Also, EA/DICE must send out a statement, saying what went so terribly wrong with this patch. It was said to be the last one they would make, but that obviously won't be right. A 1.4/1.31 patch is required IMMEDIATELY!

Re: What is happening with BF2

As has been said in this thread already, what will really hurt the sales of future EA products is the fact that they have not supported their existing product (BF2) very well at all.

Patches have been released without being fully play tested, meaning they have bugs that need a further patch to fix, which in turn need further patches to fix them (truely laughable). The modding community have been kicked in the balls, as have the clan community, and the gameplay has been altered from its original state so many times now Ive lost count.

If you buy BF2142, or even BF3 for that matter, what on earth makes you think EA wont provide this same level of support? When I watch trailers for new games, and the EA logo appears at the front, it is a real put-off for me now, such is their reputation.

As far as I can see, there are 2 choices:

          1) Buy BF2142 and simply hope they do better, and that EA suddenly change the way they have opperted for years

          2) Move to a game published by a company who have a proven track record of supporting their games, meaning that the game you choose to perfect will be adequately supported in the years to come

Not a difficult choice for me...

There is no minority in server crashes, its the same for all of us and its a worldwide problem. Just as CTD's and connection drops are.

Correct. Our average server uptime is now around 2 hours.

For the vast overwhelming majority myself included, the regular gamers have gotten a full year of fun out of the game, and have seen Wake Island 2007 released for free, and two fairly priced bonus packs. Special forces didnt do too well, but you cant win them all.
Not true. The vast MAJORITY of people are experiencing problems, in particular server owners. EA are doing very well to harm their franchise.

                    Sure they do.
                    Quake Wars >>> BF2142
Almost same looking games but I bet my life that QW will own BF. Better enine better support ,less glitches, more testing. Why would you even go to BF2142 after playing BF2. IT IS JUST a SCAM. Like someone here said it will be just total conversion to futuristic war based on same faulty engine and writen by same people who f****ed this game.
I go quake. No more money for EA from me.

Like someone said above, release a final thoroughly tested patch that gets rid of the issues we have today and are found with the final effort and that's it...they can't keep supporting a game until they get it right but they have to make a good final effort so that when they final stop supporting it it won't have the same issues...

Luckily I haven't had a CTD or connection error within the last few days...we'll see though...

there's just one problem with ET:QWs: you need about $300 in stuff to play it. I'm talking about minimum specs with the Geforce 6600GT, that's $130. If you want to play then on medium you'll need a Geforce 6800GT which is about $180. and the high setting will likely be for the 7800GT and 7900GT. Both cost over $250 ($300 for a 7900GTX). Also, the 7800GT needs a 400Watt power supply while the 7900GTX wants 500 watts. A good 500Watt power supply is anywhere from $50 to $100.

Note: I play BF2 on the default High setting except the screen resolution is 1024X768X70Hz with just a 6600GT.

so while BF2142 can be played by medium to low end players, Quake Wars is gonna need lots of mula.

Funny thing about reading about the next generation games on this forum string is that yes as the poster above stated, you are going to need to upgrade your gear quite a bit and spend a lot to do so.

I think what is going to happen is the gaming market is going to be forced back to the console. It is becoming too expensive to game with a PC. With the mention of BF 3 and needing 2GB RAM minimum is quite sick in terms of cash for all that equipment. So to play at optimal you are going to need what? 4GB of RAM?

Going to be interesting to see where the market heads in a few years in regards to gamers. At some point, the wallet is going to go bust for a lot of gamers that cannot keep up with the cost factor just to enjoy a nice game.

RAM these days is very cheap. But as for the post regarding aving to upgrade ur cpu, gfx card etc etc to play QW, i hardly doubt it mate, the D3 engine is very good at handling large scale texturing, far better than the BF2 engine. EA says on requirm, ents minumum 512MB, lol how many ppl have triwed to play with this little ram its just not possible without continous stutters & ****e lookign gfx regardless of ur cpu & gfx.

QW will require minimum 1GB mate i asure u of that.

4 gigs of ram in a few months will cost the same as 2 gigs cost now...now matter how up to date your comp is now in a few months a new generation of hardware will come out...

                                If history is any indication:

                                PEOPLE HAVE VERY SHORT MEMORIES.

They will flock to a new game regardless of prior experience. Just look at the success of AF. BF2142 will sell well irregardless of BF2.
