    What is happening with BF2

Is BF2 dying, because from other sources I have heard that BF2 is the fastest dying game?

Unless the developers do something fast about the completely ass-f*cked patch that botched the entire game up, then I'd hardly doubt that statistic.

But I do believe they actually care about fixing the game, they know well enough now that the amount of bad press from fans and other sources is getting so dire that it really is threatening to f*ck up their other sales. Their reputation is going down the toilet faster than a streamlined sh*t.

I know that a EA's Rep is bad for the Battle for Middle Earth. A single person has created a full mod for Rome: Total War called Lord of the RIngs and it is Fab. It leaves the EA game in dustbin. I think, the future of BF2 lies in modding, (providing the tools work).

In my eyes they WANT to kill BF2 so that we all go out and buy 2142 which means they longer have an obligation to support BF2 (like they did anyway ) You just have to look at the way they have tried killed off the mod community (making ABR very difficult to implement, no unlocks on Unranked servers, crappy and buggy map editor)

Unfortunately they dont seem to realise that its having the opposite effect of making people not want to buy 2142 precisely because of EA/DICE's **** poor support.

Compare someone like Valve, with all the support they gave CS and TFC (which were user made mods) for years, they spent their time and money creating maps for the mods, and as a result CS and TFC are still played to this day, all meaning that Half Life (albeit in a different guise) is still played too, a good 6/7 years after they first came about. Can you see BF2 doing the same? I certainly cant. Compare Valve, or ID's ethos to that of EA and you begin to see vast differences in their attitudes towards their customers and the games industry as a whole.

BF2 is a long way from dying, but their is no doubt the path and direction of the patching hasen't helped it's popularity. As a diehard BF2 player, even I have found myself loosing interest with the game. After 1 expansion pack and 2 booster paks which no one really plays, and a 1.3 patch that was 2 steps backwards its make or break time for EA. Dice/EA need to release a FINAL patch that finally fixes things, and adds some maps (FOR FREE). With this silly 2142 BF game coming out I suspect EA doesn't really care about BF2. I won't be purchasing 2142, and I have a strong belief 2142 will be as popular as the booster paks released for BF2.

Well I see plenty of people here moaning every day about the game and the patches.

these same people who hate the game so much yet play on a daily basis, there are thousands and thousands of players online throughout the day.

EA/DICE will release a 1.31 or 1.4 to help fix some of the problems but I can pretty much guarantee that a new patch will fix problems for some people but not others and the whole "I hate EA/Dice and their patches" bitching will start again.

I will be playin 2142 when it comes about but that may not be untill Sept or Oct? long time to go and I doubt that BF2 will die in the mean time.

No one is going to buy Bf2 anymore. They've made all the money they could possibly make buy selling original copies, so they have no need to improve something they're not going to sell. As demonstrated in the new expansion packs, you get very limited additions, at 10 dollars a pop. Thats what their focus is on right now.

The limited support for mods is on the whole, disgusting. Mods are what keep games alive, all reputable publishers recognize this. If EA are intentionally trying to make it difficult to implement mods, or just not willing to offer support at all, then that's a outrageous... on that token, why should anyone go and buy 2142?

BF2 isnt dead yet but interest has been waining. A large amount of players have left the game do to unfullfiled promises since day 1. It's sad EA has missed the mark on a game that has the potential to be the greatest game and a real money maker for years.

BF2142 as previously stated will have the sales of the last expansion pacs..dismal.

Wake up and Smell the coffee EA. A bird in the hand is worth 2 in the bush. IF you want to make some money build a real expansion pac that gives us new options like custom character, kits, another 12 or so maps, and release it on cd too for those of us who like hard copy. Oh ya fire your marketing and development VP's for blowing this so badly.

If not the game will die within a year for all intensive porposes allthough the community will migrate to the mods so it will kind of be alive but watch your income from ranked servers diminish dramatically.

This last patch fooked up the game so much I spend more time trying to get IN a game than actually playing. Anyone considering buying anything more from these people should think twice untill they fix whats out now.

BF 2142 will run into huge sales problems unless EA/DICE can show the customer base that they can be serious about patching major issues with the current BF 2 series.

While some die hard players will move on to BF 2142, those that care about the dollars they spend will balk at the new game. Unless the company shows that they are in control of their product now by addressing issues logically, a majority of the player base will not have faith in the support of BF 2142.

If EA/DICE cannot fix BF 2, what makes you think that they will properly support BF 2142?

I think that's what 2142 is going to be like. There will be, I think, 42 unlocks, 4 customizable classes (snipers with C4 anyone?), a bunch of new maps and new modes. So, by saying that, you might as well be excited about 2142.

You all need to take a step or two back into reality. BF2 is a highly rate game, with a large player base on both PC and even Xbox (albeit a totally different and much crappier version of the game)

Although the recent patches have screwed up some people's ability to "enjoy" the game, you my friends are in the extreme minority. For the vast overwhelming majority myself included, the regular gamers have gotten a full year of fun out of the game, and have seen Wake Island 2007 released for free, and two fairly priced bonus packs. Special forces didnt do too well, but you cant win them all.

I do think BF2142 is coming out too soon.... they should have waited until mid 2007 to release, but nevertheless the game if it is any good will sell like hotcakes.

Lets look at this another way...same engine same type of maps, new weapons and maps and armies...OMG it's an expansion pac in disguise for the price a full new game... EA thinks we are idiots
