Arguably Battlefield 2's top professional team's departure is proof of the growing void between EA/DICE and a majority of the community, and it seems the latest patch is the catalyst for many players to simply stop playing Battlefield 2. While I have not completely quit Battlefield 2, I loathe EA's constant 'patching' that adds features and removes features months after the release, wreaking havoc on strategies employed by clans and distorts all the skills that people have learned based on the previous version of the game.

      [/URL]
Wow, the growing rift....right. Take a looksee at the front page, and check out what EA/DICE are doing to help the community. And i've never heard of code 7, and they sound like conspiracy theorists if they think that EA/DICE is tryintg to kill their gameplay.

The reason they run around with AT is because in an 8v8 that uses armor, if they don't they die and armor will move right through them. In a 5v5 you won't see AT simply because it isn't needed, medics, and assault with some spec ops thrown in. Sorry if you base you opinions of match play on your experiance in pubs because it shows you know nothing of what you're talking about.

As far as competetive play going away, don't think so. The team that dropped what ever reason they dropped for aren't the end all of comp play. They will be replaced by others. You'd probably be suprised at the acceptance the removal of SHing actually got in the competeive community.

Most pubbers are about gaining points to gain rank to get unlocks, so they focus on winning for themselves.

Clanners bypass all that by making the unlocks available so everybody can concentrate on teamwork and winning as a side.

Nothing beats working together on a team that clicks.

Being in a clan myself, playing in a lot of clan matches I concur. Team that clicks is awesome to play with- However, motly in BF2 you dont get that.

The only way to get close to that experience is to play on a public server which has a group of regulars. Usually there are a few cool squads that always stick together

While many of you are venting your beliefs of your disdain for clans their tactics, the issue I believe is waining clan participation due to significant changes in gameplay introduced much later than the release date. If that is a plausible trend that will continue, ultimately culminating to the fall of major clan activities in organized, professional leagues?

It seems many of you have not even heard of Code7, here's their CAL league link if you wish to learn more:

Re: The End of Competitive Play in Battlefield 2?

Ooooooooooh-wee this is heated! I mean, gosh diddly darn I ain't seen this much sand throwin' in folks eyes since I was in tha' first grade and we had a dat' dur' sand fight!

                Wooooooo-dogy! Dem's was good times.

On a serious note. I think the "Clan" community is really full of themselves. I mean, it's the elitist attitude that's floating around that make no one really give a flying ape's poo what you guys have to say. Think about it, you're the minority yet, all you do is talk down on the majority as if you're all "God's Gift" to BF2.

Pubbers, Noobs, Pub-Noob, Stupid Pubbers... that's all I ever hear outa' you guys. It's amazing too because the second ANY one of us steps into a public server we become, *gasp*, PUBLIC PLAYERS. You don't seem to grasp that, so, you're losing ground.

...it also seems that none of you recall the very thing EA said when they were releasing this game. It's NOT for niche communities (competitive included). It's for the general masses, their idea was to broaden their sales base as much as possible and thus produce income. EA has done that, they aren't going to turn their backs on the ones who go them the dough in the first place. This applies to my community as well (Realism Nuts), etc. etc.

Truth be told though, you guys really mean nothing. I know, it's hard to grasp! You consider your self the "cream of the crop" when it comes to whatever game you venture into, yet, at the end of the day you mean jack diddly to just about 85% of the community. Myself included. I don't view any of you as truely "talented"...ok, maybe a few. The bulk of you though are just annoying. Also, when you leave (...and I hope it's sooner rather than later) know that nothing will change. The server population won't change to a noticeable degree. Total BF2 will still be around, etc. etc.

...why you ask? Well, because not every "Clan" out there is looking to be TWL's next poster child. Nope, some of us play primarly for Unity and fun. I being one of them. Do I compete? Yes. Do I compete on a major league? Nope. Would I want to? No, especially after reading a majority of the crud in this thread.

Some advice though. If you really want your voices to be heard, try influencing the masses instead of insulting them. Give it a try... it will take you far (or just get you ignored, either way). What do you have to lose? Obviously insulting us "pubbers" isn't getting you anywhere, but the bottom of the food chain.

You guys need to get your head out of your ass. Competition is about stretching the games limits and beating your opponents.

If you have a guy that can solo guide, you take that in a heartbeat. You have to think strategy. In an 8v8 match, why put 2 guys in the dang chopper when you can have 1. Instead of 1/4 of your team flying around, it's only 1/8. That way you have more people on the ground to take flags (which really matter). I swear some of you people are dumb.

It takes more skill to solo guide than it does having a pilot and you just gunning. He has to multi-task.

Most of you guys wouldn't last 2 minutes in an 8v8 match with Code7, period. 20ID (one of the best US/Canadian teams) played those fools on Dragon Valley and lasted roughly 3 minutes, literally. Code7 is the best team in BF2, hands down. Their departure doesn't affect any of you because I doubt any of you even compete. When you're part of the competition community and the top teams start to leave, you yourself lose incentive to play. We want competition. We don't want to trash noobs every week because there's no one left. Code7 affects the Euro side of things more than the US, but we've had our share of top teams leave. Paradigm is barely hanging around from the looks of it, HOT left in the middle of a CAL season about 2 weeks ago, the same with TGBF.

Competition is becoming watered down and the "fun" part of that goes with it.

lol, those bf2combat guys suck. I'm not exactly sure if it was them, but there was a 30v30 (I think 3 maps, 2 rnds each) with those guys vs CAL. It was complete ownage.

That isn't competition, that's garbage. If you want a good comparison of "levelage", they're about as good as a high school team whereas CAL players are pro. There is a big difference.

Oh well, stay in your own little world.

YES, ADAPT TO WHAT? Vehicle drops? Overpowerful weapons such as the G36 BS gun? Yeah sure. But when you can adapt to crashing to desktop let me know. Can you adapt to noy killing friendlies in a vehicle going .5 miles per hour, but yet I run an enemy at full speed and he just floates to the side (it doesen't always happen, but more than it should that's for sure).
Can you adapt to BS lagg? Sorry my friend. What these patches have brought to the table is bugs and mess ups. Not actual game play changes. In thebeggining this was true a litle, like not making the M203 explode at 2 ft killing your enemy, but yet you are untouched.

I am not a coder either, but I have heard, and have a feeling all these little f-ups are part of something.
I expect a huge company, and such a rich company to give me my money's worth, and put out half arsed patches. I don't expect them to sit down for 15 minutes and fix it, but it seems that's what they have been doing.

These self-serving "Hey look at me" announcements just sounds like arrogance to me, and you still wonder why some public people think clanners are arrogant.
