Would you fly a plane knowing that previous planes made my the same company constantly crashed? Unlikely.

So why do you buy software knowing that the companies previous versions were buggy to the point of being unplayable for a lot of people?
then why dont you try designing the perfect FPS game then?

i can assure you its harder than it looks

I'll get it and play it (presuming i have the dosh to update my hardware first, it looks intensive) because my clan is going to, and more to the point because I've been with BF since 42 and gotten all the extras, and i love it. Granted, what has happened to it with "faulty" patches and whatnot is unfortunate, and its a shame so many people are having issues. BUT i will continue to play. I buy 1, maybe 2 games a year and this year it'll be 2142 AND QW.

Let me also say, if i decide the game really is such a POS then i can always sell it at a second hand place. :)

well because its not my job. my job is to teach and im good at my job just like you are probally good at what ever you do. think if you only did some thing half way or were repeatedly told what your flaws were but did not make improvmetns you think you would still have a job, or able to make good money. probally not. so how is it that these compantys can do their jobs only half asked.

they have the captial to do so... so they will keep doing it.

it takes money to make money, as long as they can advertise a product people will buy it. of course, that is just one way their money makes them more money. we could list many of their marketing ploys to the point wikipedia might be ammended.

Oh I can assure you I know exactly how much effort it takes to make a decent FPS game, and I am by no means proficient enough to make such a game, but mabye in the future I will.

I'd return it to the seller for a refund. If they refuse I'd take them to small claims court and argue that there was no valid contract because not all the terms of the contract, ie. the EULA, were disclosed at the time of the sale and therefore I had a right to recision. If thousands of people did that to Best Buy and CompUSA, forcing them to send lawyers to defend all those cases, the software publishers would really feel some pressure.

But Sir. Eden is right, people do have low standards for software. They'll bitch and moan and swear that they won't buy another game from a publisher. Until the next game with an awsome video comes out and the cycle starts again.

...of life... kick it, before it kicks you.

there are some principles that are bound to happen, mankind has seen them time and time again. some are not so apparent at first, and keep slipping by. if they aren't noted they keep slipping by which hurts the next person ignorant of that fact (which should have been kept up with).

which facts you may ask... let's take my errs for example; i didn't know that clearing the "GeneralSettings.addServerHistory "xx.xx.xx.xx", "off your C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\My Documents\Battlefield 2\Profiles\0001\General.con file would speed up login time significantly.

now i myself am guilty of not reading all the 'stickies' or info that is already provided to you in many cases, and these are the "potholes" in life we must try to avoid.

this is just one of the issues i've seen on several forums here recently more than ever. i'm sure others (hint: Wargimp) has told many others for a long time.

Believe me, if any of us knew everything, do you think we would be reading/writing in these forums? humankind is always changing with a twist, but always staying the same in ways.

I will do so because its cheap at only $10.00US. But this isn't the main reason why.

Its because no other game has kept my interest for so long where I have put in so many hours of online playing time.

The game is simply the best for modern day combat in the virtual world. BF2 looks great and simply offers great variety within its universe; Everything from the different vehicles, weapons and player kits. I get to employ varying tactics when playing and I love the teamplay aspect of the game when playing with clan members and to my surprise, even in public servers as of late which is very pleasent to say the least.

Some people play for the 'e-bling" and others like myself simply play the game because its fun and of a genre that I enjoy.

I will not be getting BF2142 for that very reason. I enjoy the Modern Combat Genre and will leave the Mechs to games like MechWarrior and the later C&C games. Both of which were great games but I am stuck on my Modern Day Combat these days.
Did you know I keep interest in the bf serie because they gave us free things and nice support, instead sucking your balls

                        Why for me:

                        1. I do not think I will be able to stand my clanmates talking about it when if I can't play it.

                        2. The URGE to try it out. :)

                        3. I may get involved with some development teams and/or other things for BF2142...and I would need the game.

                        yupyup :salute:

BF2142 uses the BF2 engine. Even though it looks intensive. So you don't have to upgrade your hardware, if BF2 runs just fine for you.

You people are fooling youselves if you think QW:ET will have better community or "pro" standards, there will be as many "noobs & pubbers" as you call them in QW, possibly even more since it's going to be a popular game. And they will dumb down the game with patches, because it's what developers do, every online I've played has always had a laundry list of things that were eventually nerfed. For example, bunny hopping and quick awp'ing in CS, remember? before steam came out. Even RTS games, Starcraft for instance, protoss units were nerfed after a while. MMORPGS, World of Warcraft for example, all classes and their abilities got nerfed with each patch, the devs called it class reviews. It's the nature of online video games. So it's only logical that they nerfed C4 chucking, jumping & shooting, etc... in BF2. QW will be no different, some people will find the ultimate combos or techniques and abuse them till "noobs & pubbers" call for nerfs, then the devs will nerf them. It's what they call "balance".

                              Does that make sense?

i thought i read somewhere that it was "suppose" to run better than bf2.

                                we'll see
