For a 50 dollar a unit software product delivered with an 18 month schedule you get bugs; that's how its always gonna be.
Theres really no excuse for not testing a product before it`s released. It really didn`t take anyone long on the patch release date to be here listing the bugs and or glitches. They never even tried it before they shipped it, or they just didn`t care. That`s the point.

Can you imagine if Boeing and Lockheed sells their planes and jets to air forces and airlines around the world untested in flight?

Flaws and hiccups will never go away you're right about that. However, there are companies that are more dedicated to producing quality as opposed to quantity. EA is all about quantity. They make the most games out of any publisher in the world and they always want more. They don't spend quality time with one product make its fanbase "happy", they slack off.

They move from one game to another faster than anyone and neglect previous products. I think of DICE as the parent. They made BF2, and now EA has them working on BF2142 for a while now. We as the consumer are left with a babysitter (the rookie coders) to patch BF2. The babysitter will never be as good as the parent, period.

Since I'm someone who see's things from both ends of the spectrum, I see why EA doesn't spend time with their games. They have no incentive to spend time with them. If EA developed a game that would be used on the grand scales of competition like Valve has with CS, organizations like the CPL would pay EA to keep supporting and updating the game. That's the only way EA would truly support their game correctly, instead of lack lusterly.

So, since they have to incentive, they pound out games more than anyone and keep doing it over and over. We as the consumer are attached to their balls so tightly, we buy almost anything and EA knows it. We always want the newest thing, and we have the cash to give.

I hope theres plenty of people who buy AF/BF2142.

As previously stated over and over on these forums, the BF series of games is being specifically made (patched) for nubz aka low skilled players (also admited by EA/Dice).

When "skill required" games like Quake Wars and Crysis (E3 2006 award winners) come out later this year hopwfully the nubz will stay with the EA/Dice BF games and leave the rest of competitive players alone.

Well no not really. I could name plenty of fairly bug free games and software thats cheap and even free.

Now I do agree all software has its bugs, just as some cars break down and some planes do crash(almost always due to human error though) your never going to get away from that but if something is done properly there is very few bugs and most are ironed out over a month or two.

Now it just so happens that EA is a great example of a company that do not particularly care about how buggy there software is, they rely on stealing others ideas and forcing other up and coming companies into bankruptcy or buying them out. They will release a patch to try and keep you happy so you will buy more of there crap. That's how EA survives.

On the other hand you have companies such as SESI and iD software who take a different approach, they strive to keep there customers happy, iD is a great example of a company that provides massive amounts of support to there modding community and even new production companies (i.e splash damage) and they do there best to make bug free games, ET:QW is a good example they do not plan to release it until things are just right even if it does hold back the release date.
SESI is a great example of the most friendliest company in the world, I haven't found a single bug in there software yet. and they even give there software out for free for personal use.

meh, I wouldn't get my hopes up about Crysis. Yeah it's made by Crytek, and they do amazing stuff, but you have to remember who their boss is, EA.

Crytek will probably be made to make a bunch of expansion backs or run-off games like they did with Farcry, lol.

If its one thing that troubles me the most is people these days seam to have such low standards when it comes to software.

Would you buy a car knowing that last one you bought from the same company was in constant need of repair? Unlikely.

Would you fly a plane knowing that previous planes made my the same company constantly crashed? Unlikely.

So why do you buy software knowing that the companies previous versions were buggy to the point of being unplayable for a lot of people?
If your standards are so high, why did you click on "I accept" when you installed BF2, accepting an agreement which states that it's sold "as is", isn't warranted by EA, isn't supported by EA, and EA isn't responsible for any damages caused by the software. According to the EULA, BF2 could malfunction, igniting a fire in your PC, and burn your house down but it wouldn't be EA's fault. And you agreed to that.

I'm not buying AF. I'm not spending ~$10 CAN on a lame add-on.

I'm going to buy either BF2142 or Quake Wars, but not both. Why? BF2 is done. Can anyone honestly look at the current state of the game and say it'll be around next year with +600k people playing? Dice/EA has basically lowered all the reqs. for awards/medals so people can finish BF2. If people are hoping they fix all the bugs and stuff....read here:

Though the Top 10 games list on X-Fire isn't a 1337 source of proof, but since 1.3, BF2 has dropped to 4th (CoD2 is 3rd now). People haven't stopped gaming. They've just moved onto other/better games.

I bought AF becuase it looked cool, and it is. Completely happy I bought it.

                              2142 I doubt I'll buy though. I'm not into sci-fi.
