Why?

If its one thing that troubles me the most is people these days seam to have such low standards when it comes to software.

Would you buy a car knowing that last one you bought from the same company was in constant need of repair? Unlikely.

Would you fly a plane knowing that previous planes made my the same company constantly crashed? Unlikely.

So why do you buy software knowing that the companies previous versions were buggy to the point of being unplayable for a lot of people?

Comparing a piece of software to cars and planes ain't very intelligent. Anyways this game has been my favourite PC game, as i've played it most out of all others and I still have fun, especially with the new patch including LAN CO-OP support with all unlocks thanks to "FFOLKES"!

Sir, you can't change the mind of a pubber. They don't care as much, they're inelastic. You could throw a pile of crap at them, and they'll still play it.

The ones that are "sensitive" about what they play, are the competitive players. You don't see us stick around too long if the game sucks. If you ever venture over to CAL, you know what I mean. My problem isn't with DICE, my problem is with EA. Developers shouldn't receive the brunt of the flames, its the publisher. DICE made a good game with BF2. EA and their money hungry endeavors, over time, destroy what DICE created. EA has an agenda to make money. They put a game out, pretend to care, then move on to another right away. They assign the kiddie/rookie coders to patch what the originators made. It usually hurts the game more than helps.

This was the first EA shooter I've ever purchased, and it will probably be the last. Crytek and EA will be releasing Crysis, and they'll probably run that great looking game into the ground like everything else.

How the hell would you know who does what? Do you work for DICE or EA? I was a "competitive" player and I still don't care about EA / DICE putting out a patch. I'm a "competitive" software developer but I don't "boycott" Microsoft or Apple for putting put patches for their software. Why? because I live in the real world and in the real world people like you and Sir. whatever amount to squat to the bottom line!

Not true at all why should software be treated differently from hardware? PC hardware, cars, planes, food, your home. Everyone expects it to confirm to a standard, you wouldn't eat food that was moldy, you wouldn't buy PC hardware from an unreputable dealer yet people have almost no standards what so ever when it comes to software.
The only reason software developers get away with it is because people think they cant do anything about it, software is exactly the same as any other thing that you may buy. Just because it is made of 1's and 0's does not mean it it isn't a consumer product.

That is some what true. If you want to look at the base level of consumer products as a whole. The simple fact of your support for a 1 day boycott means exatly nothing. Try boycotting the whole game, try boycotting the next games try doing something that will actually matter to someone becuase we just don't care!

Game developers depend on companies like Microsoft because those companies NEED to use their software to DEVELOP the game for those operating systems that YOU buy.

Me, as a consumer, choose where to spend my money. DICE has no choice, really. If I see crap (which is what bf2 has turned into competitively), why would I waste my money?

There is a difference. The difference is "choice".

DICE has basically no choice. They have to use Microsofts Windows to develop a game because it's the #1 OS on the planet, everyone freaking has it. Why shy away from that? They won't make money unless it's made for Windows users.

Im not just talking about BF2 im talking about all software I know only of a select few companys who do indeed stive to provide bug free software, most other companys dont care because there customers dont care or dont realise that they can do something about it.

The software works fine for me, and apparently it works fine for other people because there are thousands online at any given time. As long as I have the money to spend, that's enough for me.

That`s funny because Saturday Night, my browser showed the least amount of servers/players, I have seen since I bought this game.

Planes crash, cars break down frequently, food poisoning is a common ailment, and homes are built atrociously all the time. So what exactly is your point? Software remains an inexact science - unlike architects and civil engineers we don't get to work with well-known quantities like bricks and steel and cement. 50 years of software development versus 6000 years of engineering. The only way to alleviate this problem is through rigorous processes including testing at many levels which inevitably delays delivery and shoots up costs. For a 50 dollar a unit software product delivered with an 18 month schedule you get bugs; that's how its always gonna be.

I am not getting AF. That's for sure. Statistics have shown that any expansion to the BF2 series is a flop. SF is a flop, EF is a flop too. Nobody seems to be playing it. Why risk your money with AF? Hell, if the expansions are really that great nobody will be playing the vanilla BF2 today. Everyone would have jumped to the expansions.

As for BF2142, I was looking forward to something like that when it was announced. But seeing the kind of support and patches that EA comes up with I'm thinking long and hard. Let the others try it out 1st. If it's good and BUGFREE I'll get it.
