Re: --BF2 Crashing/won't start problem (Fix inside)--

FYI I've installed and re-installed the patch, inc. upgrade, full upgrade, etc. & still get 2-3 CTD a night. Lag was bad (even on fast connections), & the lost connection syndrome was getting really annoying.

I finally gave up and (reluctantly) installed the 1.4 beta patch couple weeks ago when it came out and...

It seems to have fixed most of the CTD (much less), although it still does that once & awhile. What's changed most is the lag has increased a bunch (some sites unplayable), & the lost connection syndrome is now 3-4 times a session (3/4 way thru a game typical.)

Just an FYI for those thinking of trying the 1.4 beta...

hmm, interesting. Well it seems like everyone has their own problem. The fixes I posted work for some people, and don't work for others.

I hope 1.4 will fix this (once it comes out of beta)

kanives post your PC specs so maybe we can help.

Ok, I have seen a bunch of threads where people are posting that their "BF2 wont start" or "is crashing after I start it" or "are crashing after I click the Join game button".

I am making this thread to post/find a fix to these problems.

(If anyone has found anything else that works, please reply and I will edit this post)

        -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-

        Current Fix(es)

Fix #1: Try patching the Full 1.3 Patch. Try this even if you have already done the incremental.

Fix #2: Uninstall BF2 and all its components. Reinstall BF2, and use the Full 1.3 Patch to reach the newest version.

Note: Make sure you have downloaded the 1.3 Patch from reliable sources!

Fix #3: Read through This Thread...but make your you read through the whole thing.

Fix #4: Read through This Post Made by |2usty|2ifle. It contains another fix that may solve your CTD problem.

        -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-

These are the current fixes at this time. Again, if anyone has found anything else that works (especially a fix that does not require uninstalling), please post it.

        Thanks.
LOL how is this a fix? its just common sense.
I was actually expecting a fix.

Hello everyone who has had this crash to desktop when trying to join game issue.I found a solution that worked for me hopefully it will work for you also. Simply rename the BF2 folder in My Documents\Battlefield 2\Profiles named 0001 , to something other than that like 0002 ,0003 , 0004 ect just make sure you rename the folder named 0001 (for some reason the account when in that folder '0001' seems to have crash to destop issues, but renaming it to '0002' ect seems to fix it.) I found this solution because my girlfriends profile '0001' was having crash to destop problems almost everytime she tryed to join a game , while my profile '0002' was having no problems whatever. First I tryed deleting her profile and redoing her settings and still was getting the crash to destop with her account but when i renamed her profile folder '0003' and then tryed to play no more crash to destops , so I hope this helps , please tell me if it helps any of you , i think ea must have some buggy code attached to the 0001 profile that is causing this issue.

i posted this originally at forums in pcper , earlier today but i though it share it with you guys and gals also. Let me no if this helps.
