Update:

For me, BF2 has resumed it's CTD behavior as soon as the map is loaded but before I can select a spawn point. I am usually one to say that a fix or work-around can be found but my patients has been worn slick.

For the first time, I am considering moving on to a new game...

My problem is whenever I try to run BF2, screen goes black like it wants to start, then crashes back to desktop.

I have tried Solutions 1 & 2 at least 4 times along with updating my forceware. I am at the point of breaking my damn BF2 and SF discs and saying "To hell with it."

i have exactly the same problem. i heard that the gf 6200 graphics card is not supported anymore. is that true, and if it is, is this the source of the problem?
i never had problems until 1.21 (!)

that should not be the source of the problem, because I am having the same issue and my gfx card is an ati mobility 9700

i have the same problem as dark senate... at first i thought that it was my cd all ****ed up so ive made and mounted all different types of images but nothing works... im seriously about to throw this game out...

Yep ^^^^^^ Im with these guys ive reinstalled 2 times. installed the full 1.3 not working loads up to black screen and boots back to desktop.. so i guess i paid 70 bucks for this ****. awesome.

yeah same here, but it happened already with 1.22 and didn't disappear with 1.3

Hello eveyone

After d/l the new patch 1.3 the one made available from EA on May 24th ...i get this message

"COULD NOT RESOLVE CONNECTION MANAGER HOST NAME"

I cannot even log on!

This happen to anyone else?

Any tips would be greatly appreciated!

this patch is fuked up here is all the **** that has happened to me since the 1.3 "patch"
1.extremely high ping,up to 1800 but mostly around 300
2.donwloaded full 1.3 patch from ea but wasnt seeming to install, so i downloaded the incremental and it worked
2.just recently i am unnable to join any games because it keeps on crashing to desktop and i have tried reinstalling and everything
my conclusion is that this patch is fuked up and ea better do something about it really soon or there gunna have some serious problems.
does anyone know the emails of any officials from ea?

Thats it, this patch destroyed the game, pure and simple. I cannot even start the game. I get a CTD every time I try to. The BF2 team are fags, everytime they announce things like "Attention Soldiers!", I feel I would like to see that who write this and fuk his face up. When will we get another stupid patch to cover this one up and get the game going?

This is by far the worst game I've owned ever, filled with bugs since it was released, and every patch made it worse, until it finally gave up

I wonder if the incremental patch isn't working for some people because they renamed the intro movies/movie folder so they don't play. For 1.2, I forgot to rename them back, and the patch didn't work, had to reinstall. For 1.3, I reverted them, and I was fine.

Also, engine tweaks can increase the load on the CPU, causing more heat. Just guesses. Everyone needs to check heat, RAM, hard drive, drivers (all of em) etc. to eliminate the usual suspects. (How to check heat? Open up your case and point a room fan or open window at it, see if it does better.)

Ok After patching to 1.3 (Using Incremental) I was getting 'There is a problem with your connection' causing lag then eventually disconnecting, this happened with multiple servers which where perfect prior to the patch. sometime it can be fine for a few hours then others it re-occurs after 10-15mins into a round.

I uninstalled/reinstalled downloaded the Full 1.3 patch via the EA downloader. So far i haven't had the ingame connection issues.

I've only tested it on one server so far and i got crashed to desktop after playing 2 rounds when the next map started to load

Ok well I did fix #1 and it didnt work. Now my game crashes sometimes or gives me a PB error of Inadequate O/S Privlages, and then other times the game works but rarely. Does anybody have any idea about the PB error?

I have the same problem; only since the 1.3 "incremental upgrade" has this problem occured. Now I have massive lag upon game entry, and sometimes thru the middle/late game the "there is a problem w/your connection" and I end up disconnecting by itself.

Are we having fun yet ? :hmm:

i removed everything, re-installed w/ full 1.3 patch, it worked fine.
then I quit the game for 45 min. to eat dinner, and it wouldn't start again.
looks like it's gonna take un-install/re-install everything each time i want to play. yay.
