Re: copilot in a 2 seater plane is useless

Here are some tips on being an effective bomber co-pilot:
    1. Pre-aim: Place your reticle ahead of your jet's trajectory. If you're banking left, for example, put your reticle to your maximum left. You can start getting a target eventhough the reticle is pointing though your cockpit.
    2. Shooting without a lock: Sometimes you don't have time to get a lock, so what you do is shoot below your target. Just like how you have to lead your target with slow shots with a tank, you release your missiles with your reticle prematurely. The momentum of the jet will carry the missle past your reticle. As the missle is about to get close to your target, place the reticle on the target. You shouldn't have to do that much because if you aimed in front of your target, by the time the missle lands your reticle will be at your target now. This is the same technique as hitting a moving vehicle with an AT rocket except reverse.
    3. When to reload: The reload time is LONG. If you only have 1 or 2 rockets left best to fire them off right before you pass over the runway to reload. Make sure whatever you hit is away from friendlies (missles have a large splash effect).
    4. Shoot at infantry: If you have UAV up you can see infantry. Aim for walls or buidlings where the splash damage kill them. Places where infantry are common you should shoot at anyway, just like how pilots strafe areas with their machine gunns. This will be common since most pilots either don't or can't stay level long enough for your to get a lock on any target.
    5. VoIP: If you're not communicating with your pilot then you're missing out. Alot of times the driver or a vehicle will get 'tunnel vision', where they ignore everything outside of their direct-line of sight. This means that they aren't paying attention to the mini-map or main map for targets or flags that just turned grey. Let your pilot know where there are targets.
    6. Try to be squadleader if you don't have VoIP: If you are Squad leader you can open your map and tell your pilot to MOVE HERE, or ATTACK HERE using the Squad leader commands. If you have a good commander he may give you targets as they become available (commander's can't Right+Click spot while the Scanner is running).
    7. Spot for your pilot: You can spot for your pilot so he can come around for another pass and get your target. Even if you get a lock on you can look directly down below your jet for targets - vehicles still start the lock process eventhough your missiles couldn't hit them.
    8. F10 and F11 while in a Dogfight: If you have a bogey on your tail, get out of bomb view and press F11 and F10 to look behind and infront of your jet. These views will gie you the greatest view to communicate with your pilot where a bogey is. Becareful though, if you switch too fast sometimes the bomb view gets bugged and you'll have to die to fix the problem.

The co-pilot in a bomber is one of the most important roles when it comes to flying . . . only second to a gunner in a chopper. The missiles are EXTREMELY effective.

If you're flying with an experience player, and a good pilot, you should be able to own the battlefield.

When i pilot a bomber i love having a co-pilot/gunner. There is nothing better than a laser guided missile when you have an enemy tank/APC in close quarters with friendlies.
I always watch my map to see how many blues are surrounding an enemy target so i know wether to line up the co-pilot or release dumb-bombs.

Don't render a weapon totally pointless just because you havn't figured it out.

the laser missles are beyond powerfull...
Nothing compares knowing how to use the missles... and having a pilot who has confidence in you as a gunner... you rack the kills up....and everyone is happy...
Except for the Tank, APC and 3 guys capping that flag you just leveled.... the only kill better is dropping a loaded blackhawk......freehand....

I got 22 kills in one round on kubra with them and havent been able to come close to that for a long time.

Re: copilot in a 2 seater plane is useless

Id just like to say that in all my 10 hours of flying, 7 or so have been in the bomber, 5 odd of those in the copilots seat. I've had 2 good pilots in all that time, unfortunately on pubs they're all too rare.

I do find though that flying with a clan member, be it of your own or another, helps immeasureably as they usually have a mike and so use voip.

You're crazy man, a good pilot/bombardier team will ruin your whole day.

I wouldn't be too hard on the OP everyone. It sounds like he hasn't been with a teamplayer pilot. You have to fly the bomber differently when you have a missle gunner than solo. There are even experianced pilots out there who either don't know this or ignore it which can lead to frustration and feelings like the OP is expressing.

my best with those missles are 5 kills, half the time the lock breaks off and the missle hits a freindly. lol

How do you exactly line up your co-pilot in a bomber? Do you aim the nose slightly above the targe? How much above?

Here is how I line up when piloting:

First I make my runs longer on targets. For instance, if I pick up a target on the HUD that is off to the left but fairly close, I keep on flying past it. After I've gone past it for a bit, I make my turn back around so that the flight time back to the target is longer than the lock time for the missle. This allows me to get lined up on the target before we get to locking distance.

Second, I get some altitude and when I see the target appear on the HUD, I begin a dive on it keeping the gunsite slightly above the target. The missles take a few seconds to achieve lock and when fired, they go forward a bit before they start to dive down. If you are flying level , you can end up too close to the target when the missle locks and it'll miss because it won't have enough time to drop down.

That is what I do and it seems to work well for me. I am interested in reading what others do as well.

You are kidding right? These things guide themselfes once locked, they take out EVERY vehicle in 1 hit, they are easy to guide manually if you have a steady pilot (love to take out the phalanx ), these things fire 4 with out any real reloading, then a slight reload, rinse and repeat.

Most overpowered thing in the game IMO (and I like :))

please continue to NOT use the bomber

The best situation in the perfect world is a fighter/bomber that flies true, a laser gunner, and a fighter covering the fighter/bomber's 6.

I swear I have owned as a gunner in this situation and have been owned majorly by this scenario.

Nothing beats Team Play on and off the ground.

I'm suprised more flyboys don't do this.

99% of people who use the co-pilot seats don't know how to. If you're 1 of the 1% that does, post this in your signiture :p
