    Re: Valve/Steam vs. EA/DICE

VAC owns cheaters, and the players/admins of CS:S are aware of the cheats and how to recognize them.

    vs.

PB stops hacks that are months/years old, and the players/admins are totally oblivious to fact that cheating is even possible, so they have no clue how to spot them.

I have to disagree I would'nt say the "net code" is better on valve just look how crappy the mods are compared to BF 2/BF 42 there is no professional modding community on valves part. CSS/DODS do not count those are made by valve and not 3rd party. There has not been any decents mods for the HL 2 community for over a year and HL 2 is older and so called "easier to code"

The only decent mods I see for HL 2 are...

      Dystopia
      Garrys Mod

and thats about it pretty pethetic they only managed to get 2 popular mods out while BF 2 is allready releasing mods...

What the hell are you talking about? Where are all these BF2 mods that are being released?

The mods that I've played for HL2 are Garry's Mod, The Hidden, SourceForts, and Dodgeball. I may have missed some, but in case I did:
hl2mods.co.uk is your first and best source for all of the information you’re looking for. From general topics to more of what you would expect to find here, hl2mods.co.uk has it all. We hope you find what you are searching for!

That's a list of released mods for Half-Life 2. Do some research before you run your mouth.

And you can't compare Source to both BF2 and BF1942. If we're bringing in BF1942 we have to compare HL1 as well. It had countless mods that were way more fun than any mod I ever played for BF1942.

But yes, it's true that Valve's community support for modders is terrible.

You should stop huffing glue. Valve has the best support for the modding community by far. They hosted sites on how to mod, and make maps. They give help to modders regarding the HL / Source code.

Valve has the best support for modders. EA/Dice have very little support for modders.

No PB stops by its database, they can easily get hold of private hacks or even new hacks just released to the public. They no doubt have informants.

those are not really mods dodge ball? give me a breaK all you do is throw a ball at the enemy ya that is real fun maybe if you are 12 years old. Source forts you are kidding me?? That mod is a bug/lag fest not to mention its such a cookiee cutter format with vanilla weapons in it.

Ya I guess your right I can't compare bf 42 to BF 2 but if you did your own research you will know many mods from BF42 are currently being re-made and released very soon on the BF 2 engines.

what mods are currently out for BF 2???

USI- US Intervention it is kind of a DC clone
PRMM- Project Reality mini-mod allthough it will be a full mod soon.
              Rise Of Kobel
Operation Peace Keeper- A high quality mod with alot of new weapons, vehicles sure it has alot of minor bugs but those are being patched up as I speak.
              BF 2 Racer
              Surreal 2

I am sorry but HL 2 is about a year and more older then BF 2 its sopposly "easier to code" the community is sopposly "larger" but why has the HL 2 community have not been able to release any decent mods???

              Only mods I see is

              Dystopia
              Garrys mod
              Empires Mod
and a handfull of "singleplayer" mods which I admit hl 2 has way better singleplayer mods then BF 2/42

Bottem line the BF 2 has more high quality content loaded multiplayer mods then HL 2 will ever have and the sad part is its soppose to be easier to code and a larger community on HL 2.

I think your the one who is sniffing glue you obviously have not read SVENCOOP 2 forum apparently valve will not release the tool to help them finish the mod they have been working on the mod for over 2 years...

You a Valve fanboy? eitherway you say you have over 2000 posts on the Steampowered forums and your telling me that Steam is reliable, go take a look I can bet theres topics all the way down about problems with this that and the next thing, not with cs or any of the games, but with Steam.
i think steam is extremely reliable. ive never ever had any problems with it, all the experiences ive had were good. and dont say im a noob and probally have only had steam for like a month. ive had steam since day one (beta), when you could play cs 1.6 for free and ive played cs 1.5 before that.

Overall Point: what i think Steam/Valve Pwns!.

For example, I was going to buy Dynasty Warriors, so I asked here, looked up ign and game rankings for reviews etc so I know if its going to be a reliable product that will be something I like.
I bought bf2 without looking at any preview movies, no website reviews. I was the first person I knew to own the game too.

Now look at me. I'm 90th in the world for support kit.

I've also ordered Act Of War and its expansion, and have never palyed the game. Same for half-life 1 (btw, i think the single player is boring, multiplayer is good). Same for raven shield. Same for C&C generals. LOK SR2, LOK Defiance, and on and on and on.

I know winning material when I see it.
