Re: Are aircraft out of balance?

Just as infantry has to spend all of it's time dodging Artillery, Dodging Jet Bombing raids, dealing with tanks, etc. etc.

I really gave a big nod with this statement. I primarily soldier on the ground. And mostly not in ANY vehical. I prefer it. Its me, its fine. But again, as Infantry, the amount of ground vehicals, enemy soldiers, claymores, mines, snipers, tanks, apc's and enemy arty......the amount of stuff im avoiding already is insano. Now throw in the cannon jet fighter sprayer, and the spamming 5 bomb jettison cluster bomber...and holy smokes.........
For a sole infantry, not using supply or medic bonus points, to score 70 points, to some self professed skilled jet pilot, that scored 100 points......

oh well, this debate will never be settled. Why? Pilots/tankers, grounders helos, everyone wants the one up. Take the one away, and folks are gonna get mad.
Maybe no points/rankings, is the better idea?

Thanks, guys....... I work 2nd shift, and gotta go to work........this post has successfully taken away, the 1 hour i had before work to play the game.

    lol

Re: Are aircraft out of balance?

What if flares had a realistic chance of failure? I watched your video and I saw an AA missle (or 2?) zip past your flares and pop you in the tail, is that about right?

Are you saying that should be impossible?

And in the same breath, Im not foolish enough to actually expect anything in this game (or any game) to be a 1 shot guarangeed kill (except maybe sniper headshots) but if the flares had a 30% even, chance to fail, that may be all the difference we need.

And I'm still waiting for a decent set of instructions on how to best use the AA, because like I said in a previous post...here's what happens.

      1. I get lock and the jet burns out of range
      2. I get lock and the jet drops out of line of sight
      3. I get lock and the jet drops flares and my missles lose target
      4. I get lock and wait for the flares and by the time they disipate the jet is out of range.

So please, Im still asking, ANY benevolant experience expert AA user to inform me how to get even SOMEWHAT consistent kills.

Look, I could go to single player and re-tune my flying skills if I wanted to and join the "You just suck crowd" but that's not what interests me.

      mmkay?

(and as for what you said about "it isnt hard to aim the machine gun, but to get that far, I did a lot." in regard to putting fire on a stationary AA site, thats crap... lol... you took off from an airstrip, circled wide around the outside of a map, lined up a strafing run you've probably made 10,000 times and held down a button and racked up a kill. That isnt a lot... lol

it didnt go past them, it did "dot to dot" on every flare and then came for the plane, a missile flys mostly straight and takes time to turn. imagine a bullet that bounces off 10 walls, does a 180 turn and headshots you

i said before, you'll learn how to use aa better in time, just get in the aa when its not coming for you and you'll get them.

That Static Anti-Air isn't a progressive weapon. You don't get better at it. It is what it is up to a certain point of common sense.

So. No, he won't get better at it. He will get lucky.

Wow, you lot seem to have selective memories, (maybe I have) in pilots defence I don't recall a mass complaint about S2A in 1.2. There were a lot complaining about A2A but not S2A, was there?

In 1.2 I remeber flying and thinking 'oh gawd I hope they cap that point' now as has been stated it's a minor annoyance. I have to hold my hand up and for purely selfish reasons want ground AA as good as 1.2. I can get a Jet easy :)

Zip that vid You went up from ground AA fired flares in missles path, if you went down then the missles would have lost lock you.

it would have gone after the plane no matter which way it went lol

he will get better at using it. there are certain tricks you can do and you'll learn the best times to fire to get both missiles hitting.
obviously im not going to tell anyone how they should use aa and what tricks there are, im a pilot so i hate it and dont want people to shoot at me

The whole aircraft vs gound pounders is whack! What this game needs is SAMS! Fix these jets, nothing else works, all aa does is give your position away
