This may be true on servers you play on, but I've seen a lot of 16 slot 24/7 karkand servers with players with well over 100 points. I've also joined a couple before I knew they were against the roe and nobody was capping flags except to let the USMC cap the hotel to stop their ticket drain and then they all were meeting there to go at it. The minute I capped another flag, I got kicked. That kind of play IS about nothing else except free points, because they purposely make it so the rounds last as long as possible. If the players were playing to win, and not for the points flags would be getting capped, the rounds wouldn't last as long, and the points wouldn't be so high.

Yet, the points are not free at all (as in any of the teampoints based stat padding). You need to shoot your enemies, that requires skill, and thats the essence of any FPP. If you dont have what it takes, you dont get points.

I can understand that those who made expert pistol and knife badges on regular servers are unhappy. But frankly speaking, expert knife was always The stat padders badge, and I know noone who actually done it during regular play (sure they are plenty who would brag they did, and even some that actually did, its just I dont know anyone with such skills). Also, the rounds last very long. In the same time you could have played 3 rounds on a regular karkand and score just as much, only easier.

It's not a matter of them "just having Fun"
They are breaking the rules if they are running a ranked server like that and need to be shown the error.

If their intent was justto have fun then they should be doing it unranked...
Oh wait...Stat padding IS fun for some people...see what kind of mentality this ranking system has encouraged.

while i don't play on these types of servers out of fear of getting my stats wiped i would like to..they are no differnt than legal stat padding servers...go to a 64 slot ranked server any map with only 20 or so people on it, even the noobs can score well over 100 ponts on these or a server with FF off OMG they are so lame just spray spam and pray you cant get any deductions because you can't kill friendlies..i find this so much more lame that a knife and pistol server where everyone is on equal footing....

me and my mates pistol and knife all the time on our ranked server untill enough people join to start a real round and those who say no one does it unranked you would be surprised how many people come in and knife and pistol only with us until the round starts we just ssay knives and pistols only please untill the round starts...and its not like the old days where noobs have to grab a tank and ruin it i guess these relaize round hasnt started they cant get any points so wny not join in

If your gonna get rid of K&P servers because they are "padding" your score..., then you might as well not stop there!!...., ban helis/tanks/apc's from city maps as in normal rounds on normal servers ive seen these armour crews reach rediculous scores well above 100.

What do you really care if someone else wants to go on these servers? ok so there against ROE? but hell has EA officially stated that they support and enforce the ROE?. Also i think its a bit of a cheek, EA hands out these rules when its US that pay for the servers and game not to mention all the crap weve had to put up with in the patch process, now EA wanna tell us how we should play the game too!!!!!!

Newsflash k&p servers are not about padding, as in free points. If you cant shoot, you will not get 200 points, instead you'll end up with 5:40 K/D ratio. And... on an average 32slot K&P round hardly anyone scores above 100. Which is not untypical for high-ranked players - who are the majority of those playing there.

So when, on a normal map and normal gameplay during a normal round, does someone get a 5:40 K/D? Haven't seen anything like that in a while. I know this was just a quick example but anyways. Points from those 40 kills go to the players of the other team.

I was just looking at some K&P serves in ASE and just to pick one...

the scores on a 32 player karkand K&P:
5 players with 0-50 points, 5 players with 50-100 points, 12 players with 100-180 points.

So i take it that a little over 50% of these players were all just exceptionally good and the fact that they propably are all gathered up in a small area knifing and reviving eachother, and the lack of the need to travel from flag to flag or to hide from gunfire has nothing to do with it !?

But like i said, i'm not furious and steaming to crucify all the ppl that play on those servers. I just like the stats system and i don't like the stuff that "enables players to gain ranks at an unrealistically high rate" like EA said it.

it's not stat padding if u get over 100 points on a Kubra round that lasts for over an hour or so (like it would with 20/64 server)
It is statpadding IMO if u get 180 points in a Karkand round that lasts about 15 minutes.

I hear you. Yet, as with my 5:40 k/d ratio, 180 points in 15 minutes is, I daresay, completely inpossible unless someone is cheating big time. That would mean around 6 kills every minute, sustained. That one in every 10 seconds. I think it takes abot 6 seconds to dispose a full pistol clip, bursting. 2 seconds to reload and find another target, kill again, etc. Not to mention respawn times. No, thats not possible. I never measure time when I play BF2 (my wife does, maybe ;-) but I guess a typical 32p K&P round lasts around 30 minutes, and top players get around 130 points, with the majority within 70-90 range. If I get to play today evening I will actually measure time and my score, and will post here.

p.s. i myself dont care about stats but as i said in the other thread about k&p - nonranked servers are not ok. there are cheaters, abusive admins, and most of the time it is difficult to get 30 people on such a server. i know, because i also play PRMM very often, and because of lack of 'official' ranking very few people actually play :-(

Those sort of scores are EASILY attainable if your in a jet/bomber/tank/apc
ive seen it MANY times. Is it just possible that you cant grasp the concept of someone else scoring higher than you?

I have nothing against high score servers ( if it means a big map with just a few ppl so the round lasts for ages) very few seem to realise that u actually might get less points/minute on these servers.. they are good places for getting badges and such though.

I agree. They bought the game, so they are entitled to play it as they like as long as it does not spoil the other players' fun. If I wanted to play frisbee with my BF2 cd, should EA ban me from doing so? I don't feel that my game experience is in any ways worsened because some guys have expert knife/pistol badges.

Yes if only ther was 12 jets on some map and no one was using aa and the other teams pilots all sucked...

On a normal 15-40 minute round i don't think i've ever seen more than ~6 players with over a 100 score in one round.

i hear u too. :) I bet K&P is a lot of fun and it doesn't have to be statpadding. I guess the bad thing about it is how easily it can turn into a padfest. Would be sweet if they added a variable to the server code to make a server K&P only and your K&P stats would show seperately in your stats. Think after this thread i have to go on some unranked K&P to try it :)

I can see MAYBE banning servers that claim high points, although just because it says high points doesn't mean anything "illegal" is happening. But I don't see how making things "fair" would mean banning 24/7 (pick a map) servers. Some people don't like the air planes, so they don't want to play maps that have them. A 24/7 city maps server is the perfect solution for them. For instance, about 90% of the time, I play on 260 pimpshack, which rotates through most all of the maps. Sometimes though, I want a good ground battle with no air assets. So I'll play a few 24/7 karkand servers. The ones I play are 64 player slot/64 player map servers. It doesn't matter whether I'm playing karkand in the 260 rotation or on one of the 24/7 servers...I get around the same score. On the other hand, sometimes I like a good air map, so I either play a 24/7 wake server, or a 24/7 oman server. IMO, there is a big difference between a "high point k&p server" and a 24/7 server. As the name suggests, one is set up for the purpose of huge points, where the other is set up to play on one map.

If you don't play in them, why should you care? The stats aren't set on a "Curve", its does "NOTHING" to your pressious stats, so WTF is you gig dude?

This reporting crap is what is getting out of hand!!! What should be used for hackers and "REAL" stat padders has been turned into a laughing stock in the entire community, and several just open these up to **** you cry babies off!

Wha wha....mommy! Someone is playing knife and pistols only....getting more points than me on....you guessed it mommy, "RANKED" servers!!! I know they pay good money for them and should be able to run them how they please, but gee wizz! Its just not fair them scoring more than me in one round and getting a couple badges I can't get unless I go in them myself!!! I think I will write a big speach on TBF2.com and get others who feel this way to support my foolishness, and hey, maybe the BF ROE gaming police will see my post and I will be a hero mommy....yeah!! ......Give me a break!
