I killed a couple of dudes in an online game with a door charge once. The defining moment of 6 months online gaming, over in an instant and a destroyed door for measure.

And how about for realism make AT mines invisible to the eye :) and only detectable by a certain class, maybe?

          1. you will notice in my original post I said that the effective casualty producing range of a claymore was "SUPPOSEDLY CLASSIFIED". Notice the word "SUPPOSEDLY". Yes, I can assure all who have told me that I know that plenty of websites contain this information as well as many books. And yes, most of them are fairly accurate with their information.

          2. A lot of people seem to think the word "CLASSIFIED" means something other than it does. In order to have access to classified information, an individual has to be in the armed services for about 20 minutes. Classified does not mean the same thing as "Nuclear Missile Launch Codes" OK? Basically, in layman's terms, what it means is this, "You know something most people dont, so dont go to the bar and get drunk and shoot your mouth off about it." Does that make sense to everyone who seems to think that I neglected to include the information on the grounds that I think I am some kind of super spy? CLASSIFIED JUST MEANS YOU'RE NOT SUPPOSED TO TALK ABOUT IT.

          3. One person, namely "SKWURL" took particular offense to something I said and I must have hurt his feelings really bad because I could almost feel the hot tears of rage rolling down his face when I read his post. Gee Skwurl, I'm sorry... well not really. But I will say this, What I previously refferred to as "Computer Nerds", OK, That's a little harsh and I suppose a little hypocritical considering I'm a 25 year old man on a video game forum. However I get very, VERY angry when people who seem like they have a seventh grade education in history try to inform me that i am wrong. Most of the people last night who challenged me didn't have any comebacks for me after I set them straight. Possibly because of my extensive and diverse vocabulary most of them could not understand a word of what I wrote. But I like to think It's because I was right, and they were wrong.

If I get pulled over by a cop who tells me my tags are expired, do I stand there and argue with the cop about whether liscence plate tags are actually lawful? NO. Because the cop is an expert in his particular field.
Do I walk into Operating rooms and start telling doctors how to perform surgery? NO. Because they know a lot more about it than I do.
Do I walk into clothing stores and start telling women that the outfits they are trying on make their asses look fat? NO... well, ok sometimes...

Point is, SKwurl says that I am an "arrogant prick" because somebody challenged my "oppinion" in regards to a video game and then I flamed them. The things I posted so far are not my "oppinions", but rather FACTS that I have been formally educated in. If Skwurl was an expert mechanic and told me that my universal joint on my truck was going bad I wouldn't call him names, I would look under my truck to see if he was right or not.

As for my comments about people who think they are experts on a subject because they know how to type words like "bomb" and "landmine" into a search engine, I have no appologies and certainly wont make any excuses. If I go to NASA's website and read about space shuttles, does that make me an astronaught?

Although Skwurl was right about me being an arrogant prick.... Thanks for the complement Skwurl! Mission Accomplished!

Thank you Brutus for helping me spank these "unedumacated" bafoons.

You my friend are a moron...and it looks like I hit a nerve too. Didn't mean to get you all worked up. After all, you were probably drafting a proposal to DICE on why your superior knowledge of 'bouncing betty's' should be included in the game.

I know you like the sound of your own (typing?) voice, but you've really outdone yourself this time. As is typical of your kind, your best attack is on a typo that was made in a previous post. I believe I misspelled 'opinion'. Bravo on catching it.

However, I thought that since you're such an amazing grammarian linguist, I would quickly point out some errors in your previous post - just to get down to the level of your mental retardation. I’ve conveniently bolded the mistakes you made in your previous post (along with the correct italicized version beside it).

          a) refferred - referred.
          b) cant ,dont, and wont have apostrophes to indicate the left out letters, can't, don't & won't.
          c)liscence - license.
          d)appologies - apologies.
          e)astronaught - astronaut

But hey, you're a 25-year-old man and you probably already know this. Sorry that our grade seven education isn't up to par.

          Have a great day.

*Edit* After reviewing my previous post, I see no error on ‘oppinion’. Perhaps you actually think it's spelled that way? Way to go grade seven education! And they let you work with explosives?

          God help us.

What irritates me isn't his grammar or his spelling, it's his elitest attitude about things. "I'm a ex Soldier, so I know things you possibly couldn't! And everything you know is made up lies."

Then when challenged that the "lies" we know probably aren't made up he throws in things like
However I get very, VERY angry when people who seem like they have a seventh grade education in history try to inform me that i am wrong. I'm still waiting to see how we've been "set straight". I believe HE was the one that issued the challenge that his details are the only ones worth anything, and we supplied URL's, names, and titles of books that have the same information as he has, but our sources are wrong.

While I won't argue with a cop about a ticket, or argue with a doctor about a procedure, I will happily argue with a self appointed know it all who posts on the internet.

If a person arrives on the internet and says "I'm a cop, i can ticket you for walking on the pavement if I want, and nothing you can say will prove I cant", yet I can go to a dozen different websites that all claim you can't, I think I'm fairly well entitled to argue with you as much as I want.

Hell a couple of years ago there was a string of bomb attacks agaist our police stations, and the friendly boys in the bomb department made up a poster with info on most of the common explosives we are likely to encounter, from the Soviet SMP through to the Chinese Type 158 Mini limpet mines. It included a piece on the Claymore, the mini Claymore, and the Russian built Claymore.

So there are civilians who know about this stuff.

It grates my bones that he posts something like
BY THE WAY, I was a combat engineer in the 10th Mountain Division for 4 years and have actual combat experience, so dont bother arguing with me about my descriptions because you would already be wrong.

Anyway, a claymore doesn't just go off by itself. It has to have a blasting cap screwed into it with an electrical transmission line running to a handheld "clacker". You depress the handle on the clacker, it creates electricity that sets off the cap and detonates the mine. This practice of dropping claymores wherever and running off to the other side of the map is so ridiculous
When it is easily available that the Claymore's aren't only clacker fired. So HE is already wrong, even before anyone has started replying. While the USA might not use the trip switches any more, the MEC and the Chinese probably won't be as politically correct.

The ability to "fire and forget" any sort of mine is ludicrious, even more so the Bouncing Betty. However the game is full of inconsistancies.

Walking, infact running and jumping away from a solid torso shot with a .50BMG round? Chances. A single 7.62x51mm round is enough to disable a person. A self packing parachute that opens on command at any fall of more then 5m? That every grunt in the game has? A defibrilator that not only patches shattered skulls together, it gets the person up into fighting condition again?

Please, someone who knows a little bit about explosives and military weapons wanted to stomp over the poor little kiddies and wave his E-Wang around. And got corrected. Please, grow up.

Anti tank mines are very different from AP mines, obviously they are a lot more powerful but also in the regard that pressure activated AT mines require a great deal more weight (up to 300-500 lbs) so only vehicles and really fat people can set them off.

              3. If you are foreigner, (IE not a citizen of the United States) stop trying to tell an American War veteran what your history books and media portray as American war policy. Because you know two things about us, Jack and sh!t, and Jack left town to try to immigrate here to the most kick-ass nation on earth.

                      Go Go Grammar.

For Gods sake is it too difficult to hit the <shift> key every once in a while? Or to, you know, throw an "h" into "tat", replace a "g" with a "k" remove an "n", replace a "y" with a "u".

Good God man, you even managed to edit your post once already.

And outside of the game Bouncing Betty's are as cool as any other massively destructive device. Hell even MIRV loaded Trident II missiles are cool.

The fact they can be used to end people's lives is not.

The ammount of energy people waste on designing and refining tools to kill and mutilate each other is amazing.

Scarz, i remember learning about Bouncing Betty's in Infantry school. A buddy of mine, a combat engineer also showed me a cutaway of one. Scary things they are.

I agree though that adding them to BF2 could be interesting.
