    Yeah the 1900XT is the best card out there right now for visual quality. It doesnt touch the 7900GT in terms of pricing, but the ability to use HDR+AA and the overall slightly better visual quality of ATI is nice to have.

    Personally i like this order of cards:

    6800GS -> 7600GT -> 7900GT ->1900XT -> anything higher and your insane.

    Crossfire is totally bunk, and SLI is nice but only for super high end monitors or extrmeme AA and AF. Im still in favor of a single card solution in the meantime.

      Hmm, looks like I'll have to put the ATi fanboys in their place. First of all, remember that this card wasn't even supposed to come close to the X1900XT, but look at what Nvidia turned out;

      They speak for themselves. And since the 7900GTX beats the X1900XT in every single one of those benchmarks, a overclocked 7900GTX (they overclock really well too) will easily take out a overclocked X1900XTX.

      All this from a 24-pipe card clocked at 650MHz that wasn't even supposed to rival the X1900XT...

      Since Guru3D didn't benchmark Battlefield 2, here's some FEAR ownage to chew on;

      http://www.guru3d.com/article/Videocards/326/18/

      105FPS without AA or AF on 1280x1024. Pretty.

        Looks like I'll have to put NV fanboys in their place. Lets see X1900 XT... for 450, can bios flash to X1900XTX (gauranteed). Also ATI cards can OC alot better than the NV cards because when you hit a wall OCing... load up ATI tool bump up the voltage and push it some more.

        Heres some LEGIT benchmarks AKA they put NV's quality to high quality to disable stock optimizations and run at the same quality as ATI.

        Please note that for all tests, excluding 3D Mark 2006, Nvidia image quality settings were set from "Quality" to "High Quality." ATI image quality settings were left at "High Quality" with "High Quality Anisotropic Filtering" enabled in Catalyst Control Panel.
        FEAR

        Serious Sam 2

        theres more but no point in posting them all, looks like as usual NV can't keep up when running the same quality as ATI (oh yeah BTW that card is clocked at 700/1800)... hopefully the G80 will be up to par.

          Lol, is that a X1800XT I see coming within 2FPS of the 7900GTX in the first one, and then beating the 7900GTX in the second one? Bullsh!t please. And if they're "legit", then whats the source?

          It doesn't get any more legit than Anandtech, [H]ardOCP, and Guru3D.

            www.legitreviews.com , yeah they may be legit, but none of them up NV's quality to the same as ATI's therefore the NV card is rendering a less clean image.

              Those bench images are linked from some site called "legitreviews.com"

              They have to name theirself that to even sound legitimate?

              Sounds like a farce.

              ATI fails in my book because they take shortcuts by bumping up the core clock and ramdac instead of spreading the power over more pipes like Nvidia does. ****ing ATI's cards overheat like a son of a bitch because they have **** stock cooling.

              ATI can eat my butt chunks until they can put coolers on the card that actually function in stock form. My next investment will be an Nvidia.

                ummm... the 7900 GTX has the same clocks as the X1900 XTX... taking a shortcut, they did a whole new type of architecture instead of just throwing more pipes in. Also my X1900 XTX (oced to 690/1600) idles at 46* and loads at 75* which isn't that bad at all.

                  my X800 pro idles at 46 as well.

                  and peaks near 80.

                  But it sure as **** overheats and causes VPU recover more than it should.

                    Are you serious? Look at the benchmarks. The 1900XTX beats the 7900GTX in almost every game. Just because the 7900GTX keeps up with the XTX people are celebrating like Nvidia just slaughtered ATI. In theory the 7900GTX should have been much better then the X1900XTX because the X1900XTX was made to compete with the 7800GTX.

                      I doubt that....if the X1900 was made to compete with the 7800 then it would have come out much earlier, the 7800 has been out for some time (albeit the 512 GTX not terribly long).

                      ATI and Nvidia seem to nearly correspond on numbers as well.

                      To me it breaks down like this

                      6 series Nvidia = X8 series ATI
                      78series Nvidia = X18 ATI
                      79 Nvidia = X19 ATI

                      All have variants like the X300 or 7600, etc. Those are irrelevant though.

                      I honestly think Nvidia released the 79XX series just as something to put up against the X19 ATI's for a little bit until they get something better going.

                      On a side note....I'm really wanting to see some nice Dual-Core DX10 GPU's come out. :yay:

                        Negatory. The X1800XT was made to compete with the 7800GTX. The X1900XT was made to get back for the 7800GTX-512MB, and to compete with the 7900GTX.

                        And then Anandtech benchmarks are the only real ones that show them performing On-Par with eachother. The X1900XTX is hardly ever ahead of the 7900GTX.

                        But if you get out of Anandtech; HardOCP and Guru3D show the 7900GTX beating the X1900XTX. So yes, the 7900GTX IS better than the X1900XTX.

                        I already posted some benchmarks at the top of the page, you can see the 7900GTX getting MUCH higher FPS than the X1900XTX in BF2 with the HardOCP benchmark. Its the same for other games.

                        Pssh, fanboys.

                            yeah seriously... equal performance when they have an advantage and worse in true apples to apples, combined w/ no HDR+AA support and no Angle Independent AF FTW!!!! And you get all this magic for FIFTY dollars more than the competition... what a steal

                            Yes, the 7900 GTX performs on par with the X1900 XT and XTX. With ATI's additional features, will NVIDIA's street prices be low enough to entice gamers? We'll have to wait and see.
                            The performance race between NVIDIA and ATI is very tight overall, especially at the very high end, when the GeForce 7900 GTX squares off against the Radeon X1900 XTX—close enough that I couldn't declare a clear overall winner. Both cards are incredible performers, and neither of them has shown any great weaknesses in our tests.
                            The thing to take home about this article is that all of the cards in this review will play any game available today with no problems. The differences between the X1900XTX and 7900 GTX are so small that price will likely be the deciding factor. You will not go wrong with either card. In my opinion the X1900XT is the bleeding edge card to buy as it gives you 95% of the X1900XTX performance and can be found under $500.
                            ok so nvidia can mactch ATI's performance now (though they don't have to because you have such a loyal fanbase they'll buy your cards even if they are a steaming pile of crap ie. FX series), they still cant match ATI's image quality, or their price...

                                They used the Evga OCed one... and didnt disable NV's driver optimizations (slide quality bar from quality to high quality). Maybe they should of used an OCed X1900 for comparison (any idiot can OC the X1900)
