Btw, triple buffer in D3D games is up to the developer... most are just too damn lazy to bother implementing it. It's in UT2004 and helps a lot for me.
For OpenGL, it's driver dependant. NVIDIA used to have it, but they got rid of it. ATI has it. I hope that NVIDIA puts it back properly!

    BACKBUFFER = OpenGl

listen to me man i wont explain it again

lmao dude hence the TFT's in the thread title , if you want to force triple
buffering for 100HZ go ahead though i never needed it with my crt :hmm:

    Install either 1.1 OR 2.0
I use 1.1... have done since it was released. Not sure of the benefits of 2.0 vs 1.1. All I can tell you is 1.1 has never given me problems and it seems to work for others (in this thread).

If you don't have either why not try 2.0, apparently .NET 2.0 has new and improved security.

    Peace.

we are talking about TFTs not CRTs, thats another story...

It would be possible for a mod to move it to another forum.

So now your game which was running at 75FPS just halved it's framerate to 37.5 instantly. Whether or not you find 37.5FPS smooth doesn't change the fact that the framerate just cut in half suddenly, which you would notice. This is what people hate about it.
Thanks BloodUK! That paragraph really helped me understand vsync on a tft, and hence sold the idea to me. I'm running a 7800GTX and can run 1600*1200 max settings on my 2405fpw (60hz). Without vsync is would be from 30-100 (averageing at 60-80)... which resulted in tearing. With vsync enabled it would average to 60 but you would get moments where it's slowing down to 30fps.

Now it is smooth as butta with min/average of circa 57fps (max obv. 60).

Incidentally: No mouse lag (with or without) DXTweaker.

Just to confirm for anyone just joining the thread: This is genuine and does improve image quality (undeniably) and also gives the impression of a higher framerate (due to less 'drops').

Very good find BloodUK, you know your stuff!

    Peace.

PS- hello everybody, 1st post here :p

    PSS-
I couldnt find a summary of how to get this working, so here's mine:
    1. Install .NET 1.1 or 2.0(if you haven't already).
    2. Download DXTweaker (1.3mb rar file) from here.
    3. Unzip to desired location (anywhere that's convenient).
    4. Run DXTControl.
    5. Create a profile for BF2, and specify your settings in Load Modules (instructions here).
    6. How to create a profile for your BF2 mods (here).
    7. Launch the game using DXTweaker by pressing the START button (with DXTweaker).

    Best of luck!

Ok leave it at number 2 then , jitters are probably being caused by
too many back buffers at level 3 :)

    Ok ill post some images

This is VSYNC enabled 60HZ - NO directx tweaking Triple buffer

This is VSNYC enabled 60HZ - Directx tweaking triple buffer ON

Now imagine how many months ive had to put up with some games
frame rate diving to 30fps just because i have to have it vsyncd at 60HZ
as vsync off terrible tearing and frame stutter. With this tweaker
    gaming life is PERFECTION

well it was just as fine when I used the teaker.... than I made a test tuning off tripple buffering and it still did get worse. One thing realy help my fps to get higher.... rename the bf2.exe file yeah, thats just stuped but it realy works and I think this tweaker makes only one difference: makes this exe file unrecognisable for the driver so it wont decrease your speed. I know it all doesnt seem to have sense, but its the way it is...............

OK doing it now. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . The video grafics are much richer but Im starting to get a few jitters now and again. If it was a film Id say Id skipped a couple of frames. But only during heavy action. . . . . . .By the way Im running a XFX Nvida 6600 (not a GT) with 256 mb at 100HZ, I have 3 gig ram, with a 3.2 P4 2meg L2 running at 100HZ, A 120 gig SATA Drive and its on a ASUS P5DG2 premium motherboard, running win. XP SP2. Im using the 81.95 video driver, and the best part ( to me ) is I built this baby myself.
