The X1800XT got ahead in ONE of 7 games. And that was FEAR, an ATI game. Thats like comparing ATi and Nvidia in HL2...

The pwnage comes when you can overclock the 7800GTX and 7800GT to amazing speeds, while the X1800XL and X1800XT are too hot to be overclocked. I don't really care what you say. Everyone knows that they are crazy hot, and that they're a pain to overclock on stock cooling.
Yeah well theres 7 games and they all basically tie in BF2, the X1800 can overclock, one the XT's have the XTPE bios which brings the card up to 700/800 and can OC further from there, the X1800XL has the same core as the XT and can hit the XT clocks w/ voltage and the mem can OC pretty high (not as high as XT because its physically slower chips)

All basically tie? WTH. Then whats the point of which one is better...

And no, a BIOS change is like overclocking. Its not like you're changing the hardware. You can't overclock much after that.

And as the the X1800XT/XL overclocking; Sure, if you got some DICE or LN2, but otherwise, I'd rather like my cards to remain in their solid state.

Kinda late, but here's what my shadows look like (specs: AMD X2 3800+, 7800GT, 2GB Corsair XMS - 1280x1024 all high, 4xAA 8xAF)

I guess everyone is stuck with BF2's ****ty ass shadows. However, sometimes (usually with player model shadows) they are really smooth and look like FEAR, HL2, ie normal.

Thanks for the post, I hope I get better results with a new ASUS Extreme 7800GT Dual 512mb! Hopefully I'll have this bad boy in my new System in a week, or two.

hmmm, my X1800 XL is 61* full load w/ the stock fan OCed, they were only molten at first due to the drivers reading the temps 20* higher then they really were

Actually the X1800XTPE has as, or will have a redesign PCB. because the current one, can't handle the PE clock. So no, you can't just flash it and make it work, there is a good chance that you will fry your card, and then poof, no warranty, oh did i mentioned that NVIDIA has the BEST WARRANTY ON THE MARKET??? Thats the other reason i went with nvidia, ATI the best i saw was 3 years, and only asus offers that.
So now your going to tell me, nobody keeps their VGA too long, well what if i just stof playhing, and use my computer for everyday things, guess what, my card mess up in 5 years and i get a replacement, lets see ATI do that.

http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...ad.php?t=82816 seems to work pretty well to me and if my computer screws up in 5 years, whoopdeedo I'd upgrade anyways because in 5 years it probably wouldn't be able to run the current OS.

WOW, LOL, are u dumb, the moment u overclocked ur card ur warranty was voided. that's why i DON"T care much for warrantys. Also, BFG has the best warranty, a lifetime warranty, but again, u overclock by just 1mhz, then ur warranty is voided. Anyways ya, i'm gonna replace my VGA next year, i don't really care about lifetime warranties, in fact, i would rather have a GPU that has NO warranty that's like 50 bucks cheaper than one that has like a lifetime warranty. I never believed in warranties, and i never will lol.
