I am looking forward of you showing us those, because it's hard for me to believe that. Though I don't say you are lieing.

About the shadows, it's an ATi issue. They know about it and are still working on it, it's nothing BF2 either, it happens in most recent games. nVidia doesn't have to issue, so that's why they look smoother. Though issues are things to get solved, so no worries.

lmao one X1800 XL can't beat 2 GTX's, the XL doesn't have enough voltage regulators to allow it to go high enough voltage to clock that high and also generally speaking the XL's are usually the not up to snuff cores (mine works fine at XT speeds, it just needs XT voltage and w/ the stock HSF it gets to hot )

Thats right. Ive seen benchmarks where a 1800XL beats 2 7800GTXS in SLI

The BFG Tech 7800GTX OC 512mb also has the X1800 XT beat hands down on looks as well!

OMFG that FIn overclocker is AMAZING. I understand that he used like Dry Ice, but still, that's amazing, that guy should win an award for doing that. BUt anyways, on the contrary, it's highly unlikely that common people will be able to do that, so for general, 2 7800GTXs in SLI will beat a single X1800XT.

Ok, Sir. Bob, listen up. For one, you can't compare the clock speeds of ATi and Nvidia cards. Its like comparing Intel and AMD by clockspeeds. Got that? Thats one. Two, the card being compared is an X1800XT, which already beats a single 7800GTX, not the X1800XL, which can't even keep up with the 7800GT. Three, the card was overclocked using Dry Ice (DICE). That sends the temperature of the card down to -50*C (DICE's freezing temp is -73*C, I think). The MAJOR problem with the X1800 series is that they get so freakin hot, you can't do anything with them. You know how you're supposed to stop overclocking once a card or processor gets too hot? Well, the X1800 series comes "too hot" by default. When you put the card on Dry Ice, the temperature becomes a non-issue, thus letting the card be overclocked quite far (I'm not saying the card doesn't have potential). But how many people do you know that cool their videocards using Dry Ice 24/7?

A regular joe won't be able to overclock a X1800XT very far and hope to keep it's temps sane.

Ya, i don't think anybody could overclock anywhere near that far. Anyways, u'd spend like more money on dry ice after a couple of weeks than the card itself lol. That's kinda a waste of money, pro-ocers have their sponsors, they have the money, regular gamers don't.

yes the 7800 GT clearly wins by a -3.7 fps (and I only expect more, I've gained over 15 fps in some games since when i first got my card, and even more out of my old XT), also the X1800 XL can OC to speeds that can beat a GTX pretty easily, while the GT needs QUITE high clocks and good cooling to make up four its lack of 4 pipes.

Oh and just for a total compare

Ati win's 3 nv wins 3 they tie 1, I'll take that score w/ ATI's IQ and OC anyday, and also NV defaults to performance AI optimizations while ATI defaults to quality, so unless the review changes that setting ATI is running w/ higher settings than its NV counterparts, and unless the review runs NV at HQ its losing even w/ weaker settings.

Around where I live, you can get DICE for about $5/KG or so. I used it to test the limits of my processor, 2.9Ghz at 1.7v, SuperPi 32m stable :). It ran out so fast though.

So its not really expensive (Liquid Nitrogen is $10/L roundbouts) but it doesn't last too long when its 270*C above its melting point. Lets see someone make 10 trips a day to keep the LN2 going on their videocard. They'll be frozen like a rock after a while.

HAHAHAHA, everyone thinks that look at the new graphs the XL beats the GT in alot of games w/ new drivers, hell my X1800 XL (OCed to 590/1350) keeps up w/ my friends GTX in BF2, oh and the X1800's arent that hot either, my XL runs 50* idle and 57* underload OCed, people really like to praise the GT and hate the XL when the truth is the XL is awesome and stock is equal to a GT but has higher IQ and much better OCing potential.

7800GT, as low as $280, most cards at ~$300 now.

1800XL, as low as $325, most cards at 350-375 now.

For a small performance increase in some games its pretty hard to justify the extra money ($50 average). Plus SLi upgrades are for more mainstream right now so that option is pretty much the kicker.

I agree with most of u. But ur idle temp is HOT (hotter than my load temp), but ur load temp is amazingly low considering how close it is to idle. I get 30C idle, and like 45C load, all stock cooling. If ur wondering why, i don't know, but that's what everest AND ATI TOol say, i think it's good airflow, my case has good airflow, also, i dust gun all the heatsinks every month or two.
