    bye bye ATI hello Nvidia

Well i just put a 7800GT from BFG on my rig, coming from and X850XT and wow, the game looks the same, as pretty wise, but the performance is pretty damn big improvement, so, anyone who is thinking about upgrading, i recomend the 7800GT 5 starts =)

thats nice. I'd have to recommend the X1800 XL over the 7800 GT, due to recent drivers the performance stock is the same as the 7800 GT AND it can OC to XT speeds, also the IQ is better as i definately noticed sharper AA, higher quality AF and more vibrant colors on my X1800 then on my X850 XT and on my friends 7800 GTX, and the FPS to back it up... go ATI

Welcome back to the good side,im glad you found your way back to the good cards, and for drivers my buddy's who have ATI hate the new drivers and rolled back to the old ones so its both nvidia and ati who need to work on a few things :)

                strokes for folks...

                I prefer the Intel CPU's

I run an IT dept and we had a few AMD machines and they were just pap compared like for like with an Intel CPU...

I think your liking AMD as your on x64...

have you tried a Intel x64?

its a whole Ferrari / Porsche thing...

That's incorrect. The X1800XL is in some games a bit faster than the 7800GT, though in BF2 the 7800GT clearly wins.

OC from X1800XL to XT is nice, but you can the same with the 7800GT ofcourse, so that wouldn't make any difference.

Personally I am an ATi fan, but my next card will be nVidia for sure. The cards are faster, cheaper and you don't get a CCC forced to your troat (yes I use Omega, but normal drivers shouldn't force people to use bloatware).

Really? I'd like to know how you add the four extra pipes...

yes the 7800 GT clearly wins by a -3.7 fps (and I only expect more, I've gained over 15 fps in some games since when i first got my card, and even more out of my old XT), also the X1800 XL can OC to speeds that can beat a GTX pretty easily, while the GT needs QUITE high clocks and good cooling to make up four its lack of 4 pipes.

Oh and just for a total compare

Ati win's 3 nv wins 3 they tie 1, I'll take that score w/ ATI's IQ and OC anyday, and also NV defaults to performance AI optimizations while ATI defaults to quality, so unless the review changes that setting ATI is running w/ higher settings than its NV counterparts, and unless the review runs NV at HQ its losing even w/ weaker settings.

the xl/xt are better with aa and af enabled
the gt/gtx are better with no aa/af

you sure you can get the xl that high overclocks
                            what cooling are you using

Yup, I've done it. Stock cooling I just upped the fan speed it makes it louder but I can't hear it over my case fans anyways, it stays between 45-55*.

edit heres a pic w/ a lower OC (i was excited lol, didn't know it had more in it :) )

that pic has the actual temp
