Yeah the first time you encounter something new and different. But you do it once and you curse and bitch, but then you figure it out, and it's done. I guarantee, he will never forget how to set up raid 0.

Building computers is pretty tricky. I'm a pretty experienced builder and I had problems getting an nForce4 Intel Edition to boot. Ended up that the CPU heatsink's pre-applied thermal pad was too thick and was causing the CPU to overheat and shut down right away. The only reason I found this out is because I broke everything back down and re-assembled it the same exact way I did the first time, and it booted this time. Weird but it happens.

Yeah, the little things can get so frustrating, but at the same time I love it now. Plus, you're learning a trade! My roomate seems to find a person who wants a computer built or upgraded at least once a month. He charged his job $150 to install some $60 ram I bought for a laptop but never used. He gave me $100 which means he made $50 for about... oh, I dunno, would you say 75 seconds including unscrewing and rescrewing the panel? =P

Go to www.dfi-street.com and check their stickies. Most mobos have to have their bios updated to run dual core. Update your bios. Update your chipset drivers and the rest of the mobo drivers. It's all very important. And why did you buy a mobo that is very in-depth as this one?

what a headache huh guys!?! anywho, i'm not sure if DFI supports my cpu because on the My Computer>Properties>etc... it says "AMD Hammer Family Processor- Model Unknown" 2.21 GHz.... You guys care to enlighten me on this now? Thanks alot by the way!

Weird.. Have you updated your BIOS? What date is the drivers from? Click here for help on how to determine your BIOS drivers date.

Also, make sure you're using the latest chipset drivers - not the ones on the CD.

You should also go to the official DFI site and search their FAQ. It's also a good idea to ask on the official DFI support forums if you can't get it to work, there's a lot of helpful peeps there :)

i wanted a good OC'er and decided to tackle this board. as for the windows not recognizing the dual core, i did flash the bios to 06/23/2005 (dfi's latest bios revision), which includes a patch for dual core, worked excellent. oh and the dfi-forum is helpful as well! anywho, everthing is running fine now except maybe i might need to RMA the G.Skill Ram (see sig). I tried putting in just 1x1GB of the G.Skill, and my rig will not boot. So then, I put in 1x512MB of Level1 Mushkin PC3200 and the rig loads up. So then, I put in another 512MB of the Mushkin in dual channel and it loads fine also. So far I flashed the BIOS to the latest and did a Hard CMOS clear overnight w/ no solution. I know my mobo will accept this RAM as stated in DFI-forum/G.Skill's website. So what do you think? Is it defective?

I think then it's safe to say that the ram was doa and needs to be returned, hopefully they'll send you a new stick soon.

RMA'ed the G.Skill today. Anyone RMA'ed through Newegg? Wanted to know the turnaround time to getting a new pair of G.Skill. As soon as I get a new pair (hopefully a working pair), will OC the Opteron 175. Did a 8hour Prime95 stress test w/ no errors on my Mushkin level1 RAM.
