Wierd how they can charge only $1700 for SLI7800's, 2 gigs RAM. Really, really wierd. Obviously not the real authentic parts or somthing.

Anyway this slogan REALLY made my want to go out and buy a dell right now:

I have owned a Dell and an Alienware, both were great PC's. Ill never own an AMD. I prefer to stick with the big reliable guys who actually invented the PC.

LOL all you people saying Dell sucks have probably never even owned a Dell....... :laugh: :laugh:

And I never will. I custom build PC's for gaming(I've built about 10 or so for family and friends), anything else is uncivilized.

I have owned a Dell and an Alienware, both were great PC's. Ill never own an AMD. I prefer to stick with the big reliable guys who actually invented the PC.

I build around 100 machines a year.. some people request INTEL, but most
request AMD.. From my experience, and in my opinion, I will never personally
build my own pc using INTEL chips.. If you compare equivilent chips,
AMD just cant be beat for price...and I have never had one go bad,
even though I have heard several people say they have burned theirs
up.. I have never had one burn..

I will never buy INTEL cpus.. price gouging at its finest.

besides, your comment about who invented them.. is like saying you
would only buy Ford cars today.. silly.

I will also NEVER EVER buy a name brand PC (again). I can build my own
with better parts for 30% less...even Alienware, which imo, is over hyped
and way over priced. A lot of people see a fancy case and think whoa..
not me.

I will say, however, that for companies who are supplying machines for
a whole office, its probably best to go with name brand for the support
and warranty aspects.

Hmm let me think about it for a second.....nope still wont' change the way I think? Why, Dell loads it up with ****ty programs and puts a secret partition on their computers. They also use non-name branded motherboards in their system, and most likely will require you to upgrade through them.....I'd rather build my own.

But building your own is the best way to go.

I don't understand how this is supposed to change our mind about Dell and gaming? Just cause they now offer 7800s in sli or something?

As far as Dell and gaming, the 2005FPW and 2405FPW are without a doubt the best gaming widescreen LCDs out there. As far as everything else, you can get it much cheaper buying parts seperate from newegg. Plus putting it together will give you pride in your finished project.

Everyone has to admit the ups and downs of building your own vs buying a DELL.

Most novice PC people don't know how to build a PC, and wouldn't want to. Dell is a well known company and as far as I've been able to tell, dealing with tech support can be time consuming but you'll get your warrantied parts and onsite service in a reliable fashion. Major downside is a much higher price than the next two options and a lot of their parts are made to be incompatible with anything other than other Dell parts... which I feel is a borderline scam.

I made the mistake of buying a top of the line Desktop from a discount computer place called ABSPC.com nearly 5 years ago and when the motherboard died they gave me the run around for almost a month, took out a 200 dollar deposit on my debit Card for no reason at all and I ended up bouncing 6 checks because they never notified me of the bogus deposit (they specifically said there would be no deposit since I sent my parts in before they shipped the replacements out). A month later I got the parts and had to learn how to build a PC on my own with no instructions because they wouldn't send onsite service out to build it even though I paid for it in my warranty. I saved maybe 700-800 dollars buying it from that company

For those that know how to build a computer there will NEVER be a better deal than putting it together yourself from parts bought off of online distributors such as Newegg, Period. On the downside there is no tech support, onsite service, or warranties (other than manufacturer warranties) that you can fall back on. (Of course those things don't matter much when when you know how to build your own Rig):p

hahah who said it was 1700? Throwing the bs aside, let me tell ya something. That rig is not 1,700 haha not even close. I actually own an XPS Gen.4 and i upgraded considerably. My Gen. 4 is much better than the starter/entry-level Gen.5 and that picture you showed there im estimating anywhere from $3700-5000. My computer was almost $4000 and it is older (recieved it in January of '05). Anyways im always curious to see the next big thing and read the dell catalogs that come in. And that configuration in the picture is no where near $1,700. however i am not degrading the XPS quality. Simply put this machine is amazing. Very fast, with bf2 on all high except lighting and 50 bots, no crashing to desktops, and a reliable average of 60-70 fps. (Note these are bots I'm talking about, not players, so it takes an extra-toll on my pc, but it still runs smooth). To put into perspective the entertainment part of the system, i have 12 USB ports, 10 of them USB 2.0, 3 fire-wire ports, and some nice hardware like Audigy ZS. 5.1 surround, 20.1 inch Dell2005FPW, 2x160 GB hardrives, 2 cpus at 3.4 GHz and a gig of RAM (more hardware information in my sig) The system is fantastic but i can only wish it was anywhere close under 3 grand. Now since it has been a while my computer has probably moved down a slot and the maxed out, pimped up, XPS. Gen 5 takes the place of the Gen 4 at roughly $4,000. It is a lot of money, but Dell is very reliable, did i mention exclusive specialized XPS support and warrienties? However its very true you save a lot of money if you build it yourself, but then again if you burn something up accidently on you mobo, you're pretty much screwed.

For $3000-$4000 I can build 5-6 AWESOME Gaming machines, and a 8 port
router to hook them all together.. and still have money left over for dinner
for 12 at the most expensive steak house in town..

$3000-$4000 for a PC ??? I never would imagine there would be suckers
paying that kind of dough..

The PC I describe above in my other post plays BF2 maxed out, runs like
a dream, boots extremely fast, and never skips a beat.. did you say
$3000-$4000 ?? If that wasnt so ridiculous, Id be speechless.
