I had a friend way back who had a Dell, he said it was great untill something gave out, with everything onboard you couldn't replace anything!

don't know if new ones are still that setup.. in any case, generic brand stuff will get you a better deal

Depends what model you buy. Some models are just as modular if not MORE than your custom built PC.

BTW i have both, custom and Dell computers. I use the Dell more......

Actually, the price of the system pictured in the first post is around $4,500. The XPS 600 systems start at $1,700 and go up from there. I just ordered an XPS 400 system with the 24" LCD widescreen monitor - can't wait! By the way, for those of you who enjoy dissing Dell, try reading up on different publications and their reviews of various Dell products, including their gaming rigs. They come out quite well. I'm not ashamed of owning a Dell. I've been gaming on them for about 10 years and have never had a problem. At any rate, you Dell haters can continue to rant, but I'll be having the last laugh playing BF 2 on my Dell 24" widescreen LCD.

the new Dell xp5 is featured at $999 to $1,700 (for desktops) but if you click that link you can see why. Funny how they used Battlefeild2 on the monitor screenshots eh?

I personaly am impressed by DELL, this is a very good gaming pc for them to put out.

I have thank you very much. There non standard parts is the thing that sucks the most. I run into that regularly at work also.

ok, I own a dhell, and it blows. I've had nothing but problems from it since the day I got and hooked it up, the cdr/cdrw/dvd drive that they put in it failed less than a month after I got it, and they replaced it with the same type of drive BUT they gave me one that you can no longer find drivers for AND it also failed.

I finally went out and bought a lite-on external cdr/rw/dvdr/dvdrw drive to replace it. The pc always tends to be loud and hot, the Seagate hd is noisy as all get out, and I think the processor fan is going out.

Their technical support is a joke, four hours on the phone trying to solve a problem, which have been numerous with this system, is not something I paid for.

Dell Dimension 4600c
Intel Pentium 4 3.06 Processor
1 Gigabyte Ram (not included)
GeForce Fx 5200 128mb AGP (overclocked)
80 Gigabyte Seagate-Alpine HD

System I'm building:

MSI K8N Neo4-F ATX AMD Motherboard
AMD Athlon 64 3500+ 1GHz FSB Socket 939 Processor 2.2GHz Venice Core
CHAINTECH Geforce 6600 SE6600 256mb Video Card PCIExpress(up for debate)
1 Gigabyte Corsair ram (will get more later, the mobo can handle 4gigs of ram)
Hard drive (unknown) at least 120-160 GB

Dell's have a horible reputaion for their hardrives failing. The dell's in my school always have bad HDs and my mom's dell has lost it's HD twice, but she had some warranty on it and got it replaced for free.
