After a quick look on SPC its seems pretty good. Once you turn the PWM feature on the motherboard the noise should only be an issue when under stress ie gaming or rendering soemthing.

It doesnt overclock as well as a 45 but its still pretty darn good and it doesnt have crossfire, those are the only differences i think.

Unexpected news, I got a refund on a broken soundcard as ebuyer dont sell it anymore. So, I have an extra £58.21 to play around with. =D

      RAM- as above?
      Cooler- as above?
Mobo- PQ5L-e version? Or spend all of the extra money on an better processor?

Ty for all the help, please respond.

            This is my idea:

That would allow you to overclock the socks off that CPU. If you don't have 64-bit Vista, then stick to 2GB and move up to an E7300.

              Re: Cpu

Id definitely try and get 4GB (2 x 2GB) ram in there.

The thing about upgrading your cpu is that to overclock a 1333 FSB CPU you will probs need PC8500 ram, you could probs get an E7200 or even an E7300 in the budget but as mentioned the differences may not be particualy different. Dont forget to check the today only section on scan.

Edit - powderhouses looks pretty good except the AC7 pro. They are very temperamental, some perform really well and some of them really really dont. The one i had didnt cool much better than stock and the fan cable seemed to have poor connections whch caused the fan to stop and the warning alarm on my mobo to go off from time to time :/ Also the only differences between the P45 and P43 is a bit overclocking ability, if you are using a lower FSB CPU then why bother getting a much higher FSB Mobo?

                  Here is version 2:

You'll be able to get a heft overclock out of that- at least 3.6GHz.

seems more balanced, low latency ram will allow u to push the cpu that little bit more, only 2GB but u cud always still another 2GB later down the line. Id still get a P43 and 4GB tho :p You would benefit more from an extra 2GB rather than the extra 100 ish MHz FSB i reckon.

Go for the E7200, and a P31 not the E7300 and a highish end motherboard, if you plan on overclocking at all it runs at a 9x multiplier not 10x which means you dont need to stress your motherboard as much and the chip itself is no different intel has simply set the timings a little higher and put a bigger price tag on it

I built a computer for my brother over the summer using a P31 and a E7200, and ive got it running at 3.13ghz which is 1333mhz fsb and it runs 40-55c on my old stock q6600 cooler

Bottom line, dont waste your money on the E7300

Hes not going for absolute maximum settings so 2gb is fine for the time being, maybe in another year he might need to pick up another 2gb to keep on the higher settings, yeh but if its between the motherboard and more ram the ram is a way better investment

WTF? Higher multipliers mean less stress on the motherboard, as a lower FSB gives a greater clock speed, so you'd have greater need for a high end motherboard if you went for the lower end chip.

                            tut tut tut.

High multipliers are better for overclocking because you dont have to bump the FSB up which puts stress on the north bridge. P31 isnt a very good overclocking motherboard as it doesnt have voltage control over most of the chips int he system. With the prices of P43 it doesnt seem to make sense to get a P31 as its only a tenner more for a much better featured board.

Mooby - the most balanced solution for you IMO is 4GB ram, a cheaper P43 motherboard (especially if you dont understand the jargon - assume u aint all that much up for overclocking) and an E7200. It will be slightly over your budget but deffo worth the cash.

If your not going to be overclocking i wud maybe stick with the stock cooler. It may be a little noiseyer than the one listed above but when the controller settings are set on the motherboard it shoudlnt be an obtrusive noise.

You can always buy a cooler down the line if it begins to do your head in :)

                                Re: Cpu

Even so, the P43 still has good overclocking ability. If you really want to push the overclock then go for 2GB low latency ram (it will have 4 4 4 12 timings rather than 5 5 5 15) and a better motherboard.

All we can do is really give you suggestions, you need to tell us what you want to do and how far you want to take the overclock.
