Best Graphics Card (as of April 08)

I used to post these on the old forums, then I stopped caring. But, with the amount of misinformation floating around I thought I'd take the chance to start this up again to help out kiddies who need some quick advice.

You would need a very fast CPU to take advantage of that 9800, probably 4 gigs of ram aswell. Still a beast of a card though!

Get the ATI 3870 X2 it rocks and it way cheaper than buying the top nividia card. You can get two cards and still be below nividia top end card and have cash left over. The crossfire setup works on sli config too.

what bout 9600GT and 9800GTX???

I got 2 512MB 8800GT's in SLi and im pretty happy with them, i dont think il be changing for a while

GT200 (9900) is on the way, Anyone using a G80 (640MB/320MB)version of the 8800 it may finally be worth upgrading :) (if you have the cash of course)

9800GTX = not worth the money over a G92 8800GTS or a 9600GT

mm i would say the new nvidia 9 seriez are all pretty decent cards
the 9600 GT 1 GB video memory is my prefered card but i's kinda expensive last time ive checked

mm amd +6400 3.2 Ghz dual core is a nice one
but intel has some good cpu's to the dual and quad core are nice just depends on how mutch u would like to spend on it

I dont agree, i think 1GB of memory is a little unnecissary 512 will do fine for resolutions upto 1920 x 1080 and who games above that? that aside for the cash its a top card, especially for anyone playing COD4

No-one at all should be buying AMD cpus nowerdays, the current intel archetecture is so much better in near enough every way! even if you are building a super cheap computer you can get a dual core intel celeron for like 30 odd quid!

These things are basically cut down C2D's and often overclock above 3GHz.

I reckon you can build an entire base for under £300 that will play COD4 well using intel system :)

^ indeed, the 8800GT 512 are a little better than the 9060GT 1Gb cards, the extra 512MB isnt really taken advantage of in games.
