Sava overclocking is fun..I started it and just wanted more and more Ghz..i was nearly 1Ghz above the stock frequency and its great..When you compare it to friends..And then benchmark to try and get that elusive score that you really really want...Although i did overclock too far and messed up my OS but that was all part of the fun...Remember kids and unstable OC can cause an unstable OS....

I wouldnt' call it fun.. more like a waste. I guess its always nice to run to your friends and say you fried your stuff lol.

Benchmark scores are not in game performance levels or Image Quality... scores mean nothing to a gamer which is really why OCing is a waste. Its just like doing a burn out in your car... your tires just lost several thousand miles off it in a matter of seconds. :thumbsup:

Unless there are two Murphy's Laws your way off base, Murphy's/Sod's law is if anything, in any way can go wrong. It will.

Yeah a waste.. cause your paying for a Warranty on the pre-clocked.. not to mention the OCed versions of cards now are only 20-40$ more so big deal..its not going to break you. But if you have to buy another card cause you fried your old one left and your not going to commit Fraud and try to RMA it due to a manufactured defect then your going to fork out all that money again for a new one.

So which is it? Commit Fraud or just spend a few more $$ and get a pre-set card.

or so you think... but the card makers do have ways to detect if you've this.


I just wouldn't recommend it.. and as for Fraud well thats why we are all paying those high prices for these cards. Same goes with car insurance,health insurance..etc etc I could go on.

I would think not.. and how most mobo's advertise there overclocking features I don't think OC'ing is as bad and wrong as your trying to point out, aslong as you keep it within limts your pretty much safe.

If its designed to run at that speed and be advertised at that speed then it should have 3.2 for example on the side of the box and not 2.66. Sorry its wrong no matter how you look at it or how you try to justify it. If you OC a processor or a video card thats fine..do what you want..you paid for it its your property. But if you OC them and you burn or mess something up and you then try to commit fraud by doing a RMA for the items cause you claim a defect towards the manufacture then thats wrong and thats my point.

This only causes the companies to increase prices to make up for the lost funds for repairs/replacements cause of someones careless neglect or torture.

This would be the same as you buying a car advertised at going 90mph yet you constantly run it at 120mph... then the car breaks and you take it back to the dealership for a warranty repair or exchange cause you claim the car has a defect from the factory.

I'd rather do it myself and save $40. If the companies are willing to pre overclock their cards and slap a warranty on it then there is obviously no risk in overclocking. The only risk your running is a pc that is maybe a little bit more prone to unstability but as long as your not pushing the cpu/gpu too far and your temperatures are acceptable then you're fine.

You fail to understand that when they " pre overclock their cards and slap a warranty on it" that they have tested them with a certain pre made Bios Flash on the card which controls the fan speed as set by them while also testing the fan to see if it will uphold to the stress of those speeds at long durations..not to mention the cooling solution being used under the HSF is different to allow the card to still run cool enough to sustain those Overclocks right out of the box.

There is plenty of risk as I've said... if you don't care and you fry your card then don't go crying to the manufacture that your card is broken and its there fault and they should fix/replace it. You eat the costs and you purchase a new one. Otherwise you commit fraud if you use any other excuse other than "I don't know what I'm doing and I overclocked my card now its fried".

No it's not if I buy one of them CPU's that say they will go to xxx amount and it blew up after six months I would expect full money back or a replacement.

Right now, my little E6400 is running at 3.36 with 0 problem's. :thumbsup:



It's a 100% OC, as they come shiped at 2.13 I think, been running OC'd ever since I got it.

People, don't listen to Sava. Learn to overclock. It's encouraged by manufacturers, they even provide tools to do it. They have warranties so that they don't have to replace cards that people have been stupid with, but if you learn to overclock well and know the limits, you will always get an RMA on a broken card. However, if you've broken the card by overclocking, then you need to sit down and read a few guides.

Learn to overclock people!

Nearly all chips will run faster than stated (except the dreaded A revisions :|:), so why not squeeze the extra speed out. Buy overclocking by 8800gts, i can play CoD4 at all high with 60fps average as opposed to 30fps average. Before you say the eye doesn't notice over 30fps, having a 60fps average means that when there are bombs going off, choppers around, smoke grenades popping it never dips under 30 fps.

It's the same principle as car tuners. You pay for a part, you should squeeze as much performance out as possible (within reason).

If anyone wants overclocking guides i have some excellent ones. I will help anyone who needs advice as well :)

Thats just it man.... your missing it. They don't say it will go up to lets say 3.06.

It only says up to 2.66, so if you push it beyond that your violating warranty and you've broken your chip. So therefore you can't expect a full money back or replacement. See what i'm saying?

lol I never said you couldn't, I suggested you SHOULDN'T.

And I gave a good reason for it. If you OC your stuff fine.. but if you take it beyond the limits set forth whats its at out of the box then your still breaking their warranty. If you break it doing that then don't commit Fraud by telling them some story about it just failing to get a replacement or get it fixed at the cost of the manufacture..thats it.

Fraud cases every year cost the public Billions of $$$ due to market ups of items to make up for it that the manufactures lose cause of it.

Commit Fraud and I know about it.. I'll turn your butt in, alot of places will offer a Fraud Reward! :thumbsup:
