It's probably recomended that you use the latest version of your Bios.

Make sure you save your old one though so that you can use that if the new one goes bad.

And be careful, be sure you have to update your BIOS as you can kill your mobo if its updates bad.

Well the reason i am updating my bios is to OC my procs to 3.0ghz. Actually is it necessary to upgrade even if i am not going to OC?!

I agree with this, unless you have a double BIOS (some Gigabyte motherboards) or some other backup/recovery method on your motherboard.

Well is it a big difference if i OC it to 3.0, i mean thats the big question here.

from 2.66 to a 3.0, i want see any noticable increase in performance or huge difference, cause if not than nah i wont OC, the only reasong i want to update BIOS is for a stable OC.

2.66 to 3.0 is only what, 15%? Not much really, if your not to happy with updating the BIOS I would stay at 2.66.

This is probably the most under appreciated statement ever. If it ain't broke don't fix it!

Overclocking anything is never a wise choice... you do a few things when you do that:

                        1. you void warranty
                        2. you can cause premature part failure
                        3. you waste time when you could have just gotten a better chip/card.

But as mentioned..if its not broke don't fix it. Murphy's Law.

Only times a Board maker recommends a update to the bios is if your having issues with something like having a processor even work or show up.

Most are coming with Windows based software that makes it easy to search for the update then install it through windows without the hassle and its pretty much idiot proof.

Well i have made up my mind, i am not going to OC my procs. I wanted to get a E8400, but i dont know you see i jsut got the E6750 a few months ago and to spend 140 quid (on a students budget) is just overkill by a 18wheeler. So i mean the 6750 could live up to a year extra right i should not worry. When would be the best time to change to a E8***? Sorry i am just insecure right now bout the procs area :S

Sava overclocking is fun..I started it and just wanted more and more Ghz..i was nearly 1Ghz above the stock frequency and its great..When you compare it to friends..And then benchmark to try and get that elusive score that you really really want...Although i did overclock too far and messed up my OS but that was all part of the fun...Remember kids and unstable OC can cause an unstable OS....
