Dead Space Box Art Revealed

Electronic Arts has revealed the box art for their upcoming Sci-Fi horror game, Dead Space. Take a look:

Dead Space is a third-person action video game, being developed by EA Redwood Shores for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and the PC. It is currently scheduled for release in October 2008.

The player takes on the role of an engineer named Isaac Clarke, who battles a polymorphic alien species called the 'Necromorphs' on board a stricken interstellar mining ship.

Anyone else think this is going to be as big as Bioshock.

This game seems like EA's answer to Bioshock.

Personally, I doubt it. EA is known for trying to make pretty looking games, but often the gameplay itself and the storyline suffers. From the vids I've seen so far (go on Gametrailers.com and check 'em out) this looks like a nicer-looking version of Doom3...dark, corridor shooter with monsters and aliens.

Maybe they'll have some nice surprises in it, but I'd be wary of getting our hopes up too much. Bioshock was a very nice surprise that did a lot of things right...EA would have to really strike gold to even come close to it, IMO.

It should be nice too see how Deadspace shapes up to be, at least it's a new IP and not a sequel. I'll keep my eye on this it's nice to see them go all out for a 18+/M rating so their not constrained by the age rating when going about some scary or graphic moments.
