Its already in SLi, GX2 is 2 cards connected via a bridge, in an OS it will show up as 2 cards,,

The 3870x2 on the other hand is 2 cards on the same board so it will only show up as a single card.

3870X2 is better, no doubt for that reason. Does the performance scale that well for 3870X2s over the 9800GX2? I get the impression that if ATI is doing some funky low level stuff and it doesn't even need xfire drivers (I mean software support) then it sounds like it should preform very well (compared to 1x3870). More than 140%, surely?

Apparently hd3870's and hd3850's are meant to be getting a price cut in the next week or so, to compete with the 9600gt...

Yet if you want the fastest it still takes it. And EVGA honors any card as long as it's within the step-up period. For those that have the resources for a quick fix go for it. Those that are smart will wait for real dual core GPUs not this BS strap two chips on one card.

But how does the 9800 compare to two 8800GTS? They were the about equivalent in price on newegg the last time I checked. I want to see some benchmarks comparing the two. :p

If its more efficient, then... well... its no worse than buying two 8800's which is a bit more than necessary for most things IMO.

I know there is a set for Tri-SLI but you'd have to have those double sli connectors on the top of the card to do that for Quad these cards do not have that.

It would however do regular SLI with 4 cores the way these cards are set up

You can use these drivers with them but they are highly centered as beta's although they are WHQL listed..be expecting others to arrive in the next few weeks.
