Yes. Q8xxx series is coming out. Pretty much the same deal as with Q6600 and E6600. Just increase FSB to 1333MHz and more importantly increase the L2 size. The bigger L2 size is the reason why these 8xxxx processors are much faster than the E6850 at same speeds. Plus you can squeeze more juice out of them by OCing even with regular cooling.

Just checked. My mobo supports these 45nm after a BIOS flash Whoopidoo!

Warhawk: Me too. I've gone the same trail from Pentium -> Athlon -> Core2Duo. I also hope that AMD would make a real killer proc, but I'm also happy that Intel currently makes good processors for a reasonable price. $170 for a very good processor is not highway robbery IMO.

The gaming performance is not as good as i hoped for, but in all other aspects they rock! Intel ftw :)

My guess that 45nm manufacturing made it feasible cost-wise to include extra L2 memory on the die. Otherwise there're pretty much the same as E6x50.

I have to say that I'm liking E8400 alot. 6MB L2 and 4GHz comfortable. Still I think my next processor, when this E6750 becomes a bottleneck, I'll be a quad.

E8500 is hitting 4.8ghz with the stock cooler, i just hope its a sign of good things to come :)

It think the Q9300 with it's 6MB L2 is not really worth it. The sweet spot seems to be 50€ costlier Q9450 with it's 12MB L2.
