War of the Worlds 2005 remake with Tom Cruise.

Did not enjoy. Explanation at end as to how the humans survived was turbl and disjointed.

was going through my DVDs and watched the Incredibles, love that dam movie

as for War of the Worlds, I thought that film was ok but sort of dragged on and didn't really, not sure how to describe it, but entice me, lacked excitement etc even with all the kill all humans scenes

as for the explanation, thats how it happened in the book by HG Wells, which is well worth a read, although the original takes place in 18th/19th Century England

Some of the action scenes were good, some of the special effects were also good, but the film tried too much to portray human reaction to war.

Ehh, I was sort of half-watching, so maybe it does make sense, but really? The "terrifying" aliens get taken down by terrestrial diseases? That's just a lame idea, regardless of logistics.

yup in the original it follows a English bloke, he sees aliens doing nasty stuff etc, black gas its colonial era etc

he turns up in London (I think it was London) and finds them all dieing because of the nasty bacteria inside us, they should have been watching what they were eating hehehehe

Re: What was the last movie you saw?

My last week and a half of cinema viewings:

Music and Lyrics: Your standard fare type of romantic comedy staring Hugh Grant and Drew Barrymore. Has a few good laughs here and there and pokes fun at the Pop Music industry as a whole. Good middle of the road flick to watch with your girl or a mixed group of friends with just enough comedic relief to make it bearable for most guys to sit through. 6/10

Tin Man Series (Disks 1 & 2): This is a nice mini-series done by the Sci-Fi Channel now the SyFy network. It's an interesting take on the Wizard of Oz but set in the far off future. Starring Zooey Deschanel as DG the series has interesting twists and turns as she discovers the real truth about her life and destiny while being chased by the Sorceress Azkadellia played by Kathleen Robertson. Robertson makes the screen sizzle as the new version of the wicked witch and being wicked never looked so good. Throw in a strong appearance as Cain the ex-Tin Man played by Neal MacDonough most well know from his Band of Brothers character and you have a strong cast with a good story line. The two disk set comprises 3 chapters with each chapter averaging about an hour and a half of storyline. The second disk contains bonus features as well. A good story with action, mystery, and some eye candy here and there makes this a good day or two of viewing pleasure. 9/10

Miracle at St. Anna: A movie that turns out to be something different than what you expect from the previews. But that is what you should expect from a Spike Lee film. Good overall cinematography makes this film worth watching but the plot may move slow for some. Story revolves around the mysterious young boy found by four African American Soldiers trapped behind enemy lines. The plot tends to meander and in the end the viewer will make the necessary connections and realize there is greater depth to this picture than at first viewing. Others may feel the lack of focus and direction may make this movie feel like a waste of time. 6/10

Wanted: An action movie that focuses on a seemingly wussy young man who turns out to be the son of the worlds best assassin. The one scene to watch this movie for is when our would be assassin finally stands up for himself in his lackluster office job as an accounts manager. Telling off his boss and standing up for everyone in the office he gets up walks out and takes sweet revenge on his backstabbing best friend courtesy of a well delivered ergonomic keyboard to the face. The rest of the movie is standard action train up for the show down get revenge plot with little else in the mix, well almost unless you are an Angelina Jolie junkie and need an eye candy fix. Just your good ole fashioned gratuitous violence flick. 7/10
"We're all very different people. We're not Watusi. We're not Spartans. We're Americans, with a capital 'A', huh? You know what that means? Do ya? That means that our forefathers were kicked out of every decent country in the world. We are the wretched refuse. We're the underdog. We're mutts! Here's proof: his nose is cold! But there's no animal that's more faithful, that's more loyal, more loveable than the mutt." -John Winger (Bill Murray) Stripes

District 9 was quite awesome. Alien weaponry was really good at... exploding people.

Really good, emotional story telling (I had a couple of man-cry moments), but I can't see myself watching it again. 8/10
