  • Subnautica 2 Hits Sales Milestone, Krafton to Pay $250 Million to Unknown Worlds

    Over 4 million copies sold.

Krafton will have to pay out $250 million to Subnautica 2's developer, Unknown Worlds. This $250 million bonus was one of the core issues of a legal battle between Krafton and Unknown Worlds' leadership earlier this year.

Basically, when Krafton acquired Unknown Worlds in 2021, they agreed to pay out an addition $250 million to the studio if certain sales goals were met. Those sales goals used $69.8 million in revenue as a baseline. Then,...

Subnautica 2 is the Latest Game to Be Leaked Early

The source of this leak is not yet known.

What do LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight, Forza Horizon 6, Death Stranding 2, and Subnautica 2 have in common? They were all somehow leaked ahead of their official release date.

Two days ahead of its Early Access release, Subnautica 2 seems to have been leaked online in some form of a playable state. Several images and even some gameplay clips, presumably from the PC release of the game, have been compiled on Reddit's ...

Initial reporting on this decision comes from Kotaku, who say that the judge's decision comes about nine months after...

Former Unknown Worlds Leads Sue Krafton

This is going to get messy.

There are some additional layers to the drama that began a week ago when all three studio leads at Unknown Worlds were fired and replaced. At the time, Unknown Worlds' parent company Krafton laid off Ted Gill, Charlie Cleveland, and Max McGuire from Unknown Worlds. The three were replaced "effective immediately" with Striking Distance Studio CEO Steve Papoutsis.

Just yesterday on July 10th, Krafton issued a statement that said the...

There was a major shakeup at the top of Subnautica 2 developer Unknown Worlds. Parent company Krafton has put former Striking Distance Studio CEO, Steve Papoutsis, in as the new CEO of Unknown Worlds. The previous leadership team at Unknown Worlds - Ted Gill, Charlie Cleveland, and Max McGuire - were all replaced "effective immediately" in a surprise announcement.

    Exact reasons for this...

  • Subnautica 2 is Not a Multiplayer-focused Game Nor is it a Games as a Service Title

An earlier press release caused mass anger amongst fans.

Krafton, the publisher behind the upcoming Subnautica 2, released their latest financial report (PDF) earlier today that caused a fair bit of anger amongst fans. Remarks in this financial report seemed to suggest that not only would Subnautica 2 be a multiplayer-focused sequel that would use the games as a service (GaaS) model commonly seen in games like Destiny 2, Fortnite, and even the recently released Suicide Squad: Kill...
