Diablo 4 is Reportedly Killing GPUs

If you have an RTX 3080 Ti, you may want to be careful.

PC Gamer yesterday reported on an issue impacting those with Nvidia RTX 3080 Ti graphics cards trying to run the now open Diablo 4 beta. Beginning last weekend with the closed beta, owners of the RTX 3080 Ti have taken to the Blizzard forums and Reddit to report that Diablo 4 killed their graphics cards.

According to what users are reporting, at a random point when playing the Diablo 4 beta, their monitors will go...

New World Might Still be Killing Graphics Cards

This isn't necessarily an issue with the game, but a manufacturing issue or coincidence.

In late July 2021, a beta period for Amazon Games' new MMORPG, New World, caused some graphics cards to die. The lack of a framerate cap was initially blamed for killing a small number of RTX 3090 cards, mainly those from EVGA, but that really didn't make much sense. After all, tons of games can run with uncapped framerates and they don't cause PC hardware to die.

    Amazon Games did...

New World MMO Blamed for Bricking Nvidia GPUs (Update 2)

This seems to mainly impact RTX 3090 cards made by EVGA.

Update 2 (8:03PM ET on July 21, 2021): JayzTwoCents has tweeted out that he has received reports of 6900 XT and 6800 cards from AMD also encountering issues where they have died while playing New World.

These two card models are the two most powerful cards currently available on the market from AMD.

This does seem to indicate that it's not limited to Nvidia hardware. We'll be sure to update this as new...

Enter a contest for a chance to purchase this.

Bethesda and Nvidia have partnered to offer an exclusive DOOM Eternal GeForce RTX 3080 Ti Limited Edition Demon Slayer Bundle. I feel like at least a few of those words could have been cut out and still made sense, but what do I know about making titles?

This bundle includes DOOM Eternal, various physical items, and the Nvidia GeForce RTX 3080 Ti graphics card.

Now, there is a catch to this. This bundle won't...

Maingear Launches RTX 3080 Ti Desktops

Because it's not like you'll be able to buy a card on its own anyway.

Maingear passed along word today that they have just launched a line of desktop PCs that include Nvidia RTX 3080 Ti graphics cards. According to Maingear, the VYBE pre-configured desktops begin at $1,699 (USD) and top out at $3,499 for those with money to spare.

Now, what really makes this an interesting proposition is the fact that the base price of roughly $1,700 for a full desktop is actually just...

Nvidia Announces New RTX 3080 Ti, New DLSS Supported Games

Don't worry, they're probably sold out already anyway.

Nvidia's Computex presentation brought some tasty new, but expected, announcements last night. First up, the technology giant announced two new entries in their GTX 30xx GPU series. These are the RTX 3080 Ti and the RTX 3070 Ti.

The RTX 3080 Ti will "launch" on June 3 for $1,199 (USD). It includes 12GB of GDDR6X memory, a whole 2GB increase over the vanilla GTX 3080 card and half of the GTX 3090. That price...

    Early RTX 3080 Specs Leak

You ready for GPUs to have 20GB of VRAM?

Later this year, Nvidia will launch their next generation of video cards. The lineup will make use of their upcoming Ampere architecture and will power their 3xxx series. Not much is really known about the cards, but a new leak may have the first hints of what to expect.

The leak originates from Chinese website Mydrivers.com, and suggests that some of the 3xxx series will include up to 20GB of GDDR6 memory. The information, as translated...
