Employees at Riot Games Threaten Walkout

It's been a real wild ride for Riot Games, the studio responsible for creating League of Legends. Sadly, this seems to be one ride that is far from over. Employees are now considering a walkout after Riot Games took steps to prevent employees from taking legal action against the company.

Riot Games had moved to prevent further lawsuits against the company after multiple lawsuits were filed following Kotaku's recent investigation into the studio's sexist culture. At least two separate sources told Waypoint that employees are talking about walking out as a result of these new,...

Tencent Acquires 36% Ownership in Warhammer: Vermintide 2 Developer Fatshark

Fatshark, the development studio behind Warhammer: Vermintide 2 now has a new investor and it's none other than Tencent. That's right, the very same Tencent that seems to have their investment filled hands in what feels like everything, including Epic Games (40%) and Ubisoft (5%). They also have a majority ownership of Riot Games and Supercell. Of course, this is all just the tip of the iceberg for the tech giant.

According to the Swedish website DI Digital, Tencent paid around $56 million (SEK 500 million) in exchange for a 36% ownership stake in Fatshark. This places Tencent...

Riot Bans Popular Vile League of Legends Star Dunkey

Riot has taken another small step to clean up their League of Legends community this week when they banned popular YouTube personality Dunkey from their game. Dunkey was notorious for being a bit of a jackass in the in-game chat and it finally came around to bite him in the ass.

Dunkey was notorious for posting things like the following using the in-game chat.
"You are a fucking worthless braindead scumfuck bastard pile of trash mental dickface that should be gunned down in the street like the degenerate you are."
His fans would undoubtedly say that Dunkey was just joking around. Most rational people fail to see the punchline in statements like the on...

  • Garena Limiting Number of LGBT League of Legends Players to One Per Team Due to 'Unfair Advantages'

Garena, the group that runs and operates League of Legends in Southeast Asia, Taiwan, and the Philippines is hosting an all-women eSports tournament! That's the good news. The bad news is that they are putting a limit on the number of LGBT people allowed per team. That number? One. One person, and one person only per team is allowed to be a lesbian or a trans woman.

Why? Apparently any more than one per team would result in that team having an "unfair advantage." Not only that, but any team found to have more than one LGBT member will receive a one year ban from all events organized by Garena.
    1) Each team will be allowed

  • League of Legends Boasts 27 Million Daily Players and 7.5 Million Concurrent Players

Riot Games revealed to the Wall Street Journal, that League of Legends is doing a-ok for itself to the tune of 27 million daily players and a peak of 7.5 million concurrent players every day.

    Every. Day.

Let those numbers sink in a little bit. 27 million people play League of Legends on a daily basis. That's absolutely massive. It's even more impressive when you find out that back in October 2012, they only had 12 million people playing the game daily. The concurrent count is also up 50% from the 5 million peak they revealed in March of 2013. That's all well and good, but how much money is the free-to-play title (with optio...

UK Anti-Porn Filter Causing Problems with League of Legends Updates

A forum post on the official League of Legends website shows that some users in the UK are having troubles updating their game due to the anti-porn filter their government put in place.

Apparently, a few files included in the update process contain the word "sex" and are thus not able to obtain the files while updating. I kid you not.
