    Steam Will No Longer Run on Windows 7 or 8 after January 1, 2024

    It's far past time you updated from these unsupported operating systems.

    This week, Valve announced that if you are running Steam on either Windows 7 or Windows 8, you are going to need to upgrade. Come January 1, 2024, Valve says that the Steam client will no longer run on those versions of Windows.

    If you are one of the fewer than 2% of all Steam users still using either of these operating systems, it's beyond time you got around to moving on to something newer. Microsoft...

    Windows 11 Dated for October 5

    Yeah, it's coming in hot.

    Microsoft announced that Windows 11 will be released on October 5. As expected, this new release will be available as a free upgrade for those who are using eligible Windows 10 PCs, or those that purchase new hardware with Windows 11 pre-installed. Though I suppose if you're buying new hardware, that doesn't make the Windows 11 upgrade "free" but I digress.

    As with most updates from Microsoft, the free upgrade will be released in phases....

    In case you forgot, or were simply unaware, Valve will drop Steam support for Windows XP machines beginning January 1, 2019. This more than likely doesn't really impact you unless you are one of the 0.11% that are still using Windows XP as of the November 2018 hardware survey. Of course, Microsoft ended support for XP back in 2014, meaning it has already seen four years without security patches.
