Square Enix announced that Octopath Traveler and Octopath Traveler 2 on the Nintendo Switch 2 will release on October 1, 2026. You can either get these games individually or as a bundle, but the bundle will only be available digitally. Somehow, this is probably PlayStation's fault.

Square Enix continues to make more games multi-platform.

Last night, Square Enix quietly released Octopath Traveler on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5. They also released Octopath Traveler 2 on Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S. On top of those individual releases, both games are also now available to play through Game Pass on both PC and Xbox.

Today's release is accompanied by a free update for Octopath Traveler 2 on all platforms where the game is and was already available....

Square Enix released Octopath Traveler 2 today for the Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and PC via Steam. Players will venture to the all-new world of Solistia where eight travelers with unique stories must overcome a variety of obstacles, conquer enemies in turn-based battles, and contend with "the perils and promise of a new industrial era."

Demo save data will carry over to the full game.

A playable demo for Octopath Traveler 2 for the Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5 is available right now. A PC demo will arrive on Steam on Thursday, February 9th.

This demo serves as a bit of a prologue to the game and will let you play any of the eight protagonists for up to three hours. Save data from this demo will carry over to the full game when it launches on February 24, 2023.
