Microsoft Cutting 18,000 Jobs - Includes Limited Impact on Xbox
Earlier, Microsoft announced their plans to cut roughly 18,000 jobs. This reduction in the work force will take place over the course of the next year.
The bulk of the layoffs, roughly 12,500 jobs, will impact the Nokia Devices and Services side of things. While the full round of layoffs will take a year, a bulk of them will happen within the next six months. Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella explains the plan.

Former Nokia CEO, Stephen Elop, to Head Xbox Division at Microsoft
The former CEO of Nokia, Stephen Elop, has been named the new lead at Microsoft's Devices and Studios division. As you may have already guessed, this means that Elop is now in charge of games, Xbox, and the Surface side of Microsoft.
The news comes from an internal memo sent by Microsoft's Julie Larson-Green. Elop is taking over as Larson-Green moves into her new role as the the lead on the My Life & Work team in the Applications and Services Group.
