RIP the dream.

Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick confirmed that the promised return of the fan-favorite NFL 2K series is no longer happening. Zelnick stated this in an interview with Stephen Totilo at Game File.

The return of NFL 2K was announced back in 2020. Take-Two entered into a multi-year agreement deal with the NFL and NFLPA that would allow Take-Two to release new, officially licensed NFL football games starting in 2021.

The era of EA having exclusive rights to the NFL and NFLPA licenses has come to an end. For some of you out there, all you've known is Madden. Before EA and the NFL entered into an exclusive agreement deal, 2K used to also make football games. They were good. They were very good. Some would say that they were better than the Madden games and, at least for some people, they're still considered better than current Madden games.
