Earlier at New York Comic-Con, Nintendo revealed the first trailer for the upcoming Super Mario Bros. Movie. The film, which is being created as a joint effort between Nintendo and Illumination, was revealed as part of a special Nintendo Direct that aired online and for those physically in attendance in New York.

The very first trailer for the upcoming Mario movie starring Chris Pratt in the titular role, will be shown at next month's New York Comic-Con. The announcement was made on Twitter via the official New York Comic-Con account.

The first teaser trailer will be shown at the convention. Specifically, it will air at 4PM (ET) on October 6. Those in attendance will get to see the trailer only if you are in view of the Empire Stage at that time....

This all feels like a weird fever dream.

When you think of Mario's voice, the first person that comes to mind is none other than the legendary Charles Martinet. He's been the iconic voice of Mario for decades now. Nintendo's Shigeru Miyamoto is having none of that! None!

In the future, when you think of Mario's voice, you're going to think of Chris Pratt. Yes, Chris Pratt. Luigi? Charlie Day. Bowser? Jack Black.

Nintendo also announced tonight that there will be a new animated Mario film. The company says that they are teaming up with animation studio Illumination to bring the famous plumber/doctor/racecar driver/Olympic athlete/tennis star/pro golfer/basketball star/baseball star/painter to life on the big screen.

Nintendo says that the film will be co-produced by Shigeru Miyamoto and Chris Meledandri. Meledandri is the producer for such films as Despicable Me, Minions, Sister Act 2: Back...
