Wii U Virtual Console to Add Nintendo 64 and Nintendo DS Games
As part of Nintendo's April 1st Nintendo Direct show, they revealed some great news for fans of the Wii U Virtual Console. The Virtual Console will now include both Nintendo 64 and Nintendo DS games. The Wii U's GamePad will serve as the "second screen" for the DS games when played on the Virtual Console.
The games offered from the N64 and DS begin today and include the following games for $9.99 (USD) each.
Yoshi Touch & Go - April 9 ($9.99)
WarioWare Touched! - April 9 ($9.99)
Donkey Kong 64 - April 16 ($9.99)
Mario Kart DS - April 2
Nintendo Disabling Online Play for Wii and DS in May
On May 20, "certain online functionality" for various Wii, DS, and DSi games will be removed. This includes online gaming, matchmaking, leaderboards, download of free add-on content, and user exchange of in-game items.
Games affected include a very substantial list of games including Super Smash Bros. Brawl, Mario Kart DS, Mario Kart Wii,Pokemon Black and White, and countless others. In addition, Wii Speak, Wii Speak Channel, and the Wii mode on the Wii U will no longer function.
