Earlier today, Valve sent a cease and desist request to OPSkins, a website that lives and thrives off of the off-site betting, buying, and selling of Counter-Strike: Global Offensive skins. Valve even went so far as to make a news post about what they did today via the Counter-Strike website.
For the last two years, Valve has enforced our Steam Subscriber Agreement terms as described in this post....

in BattlefieldEA Forces Revive Network to Stop Distributing Battlefield 2, Battlefield 2142, and Battlefield Heroes Game Clients
Back in 2014, GameSpy shut down their online services for good. This affected far more games than you may have realized, including Battlefield 2, Battlefield 2142, and Battlefield Heroes. Without GameSpy, these games didn't have an easy way for anybody to play online. That's kind of a problem for games that are literally multiplayer only affairs. Since then, some user created mods popped up that aimed to replace the now defunct GameSpy. One of these mods was called Revive Network. Re... -

in NewsZenimax Forces Indie Studio to Change Name of Game
Prey for the Gods was a game that was in development by a three-man Indie studio called No Matter Studios. Prey is an upcoming game from Bethesda. Zenimax, Bethesda's parent company, didn't like that another game had "Prey" in the title and decided to seek legal action against the Indie studio.
To cut to the chase, the Indie developers may not have "Prey for the Gods" now, but they do have Praey for the Gods or for you fancy types. The devs mention this change... -

in NewsEA and Ubisoft Settle Dispute Over the Word "Ghost"
Remember when a really stupid thing happened in the gaming industry? That's too vague. Remember when that stupid thing was EA and Ubisoft were on the verge of hot legal action over the use of the word "Ghost?" Guess what? The dispute has been resolved!
EA has pulled one of their trademark filings for "Ghost." EA still has Ghost Games, developer of recent Need for Speed games and Ubisoft still has Ghost Recon. Everyone is happy. Details on the resolution are unknown but an... -

This news is a continuation of where we left off yesterday in the ongoing battle between The Escapist and Cloud Imperium Games.
Moments ago, The Escapist decided to triple down on their allegations that they are right and that there are some unsavory events going on with Cloud Imperium Games, Roberts Space Industries, and the development of Star Citizen.
The Escapist, notwithstanding Cloud Imperium Games' notice and posting, stands by its coverage of Star Citizen and... -

in NewsRSI's Response to Derek Smart's Lawyer is Simply Wonderful
Derek Smart, a self-proclaimed "game developer" and long time game industry nuisance, decided to go after Roberts Space Industries, the studio behind Star Citizen. To make a long story short, Derek Smart backed Star Citizen at the $250 (USD) tier way back before its popularity took off. Smart then canceled his pledge and his RSI account was deactivated, allegedly against his wishes. The refund notification he received was clearly stated under section five of the Kickstarter rules that ... -

in BattlefieldJudge Rules in EA's Favor Over Battlefield 4 Class Action Lawsuit
A class action lawsuit brought against EA over "false and misleading statements" concerning the marketing for Battlefield 4 has run into a wall today. The judge in the case, Judge Susan Illston, ruled that many of the statements made were not actually fraudulent but were rather just "puffery" and vague.
As the Courthouse News reported, however, Judge Susan Illston ruled that at least some of those statements were nothing more than "corporate confidence," and while it may have been... -
