Ted Lasso and AFC Richmond Coming to FIFA 23

The fictional character and fictional team are really being added to FIFA 23.

With this being the last official FIFA release from Electronic Arts, I get the feeling that they're just kind of going "the heck with it, let's go for broke." Today, EA and Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment announced that the fictional character of Ted Lasso and his equally fictional team, AFC Richmond, will be included in FIFA 23.

Ted Lasso is an Apple TV show that debuted in...

    EA Announces Kernel-Level Anti-Cheat

EA AntiCheat will launch with FIFA 23.

Electronic Arts just announced their own anti-cheat solution. Starting with the PC release of FIFA 23, EA will include their kernel-level anti-cheat called EA AntiCheat (EAAC). This is an anti-cheat that EA has developed in house through the company's Game Security & Anti-Cheat team.

EA did provide a brief FAQ as part of today's announcement. In short, EA says that EAAC will not be implemented into all of their games. They are...

EA Honors Massive FIFA 23 Pricing Error

A discount of almost 99.9% will be honored by EA.

For a brief period of time, pre-orders of FIFA 23 went on sale via the Epic Games Store in India for just 4.80 rupees. A quick conversion turns those 4.80 rupees into just $0.06 (USD).

If this price error wasn't bad enough, it wasn't for the basic version of FIFA 23, which retails for 3,499 rupees (or about $44 USD). The pricing error was actually for the Ultimate Edition of FIFA 23, which normally retailed for 4,799 rupees...

Marvel Collab Coming to FIFA 23 Ultimate Team

    Uh, what?

Electronic Arts and Marvel just announced a collaboration that will see "a new cast" joining FIFA Ultimate Team in FIFA 23. The new cast of FIFA Ultimate Team Heroes will see a number of players that are "reimagined and inspired by Marvel Comics."

Specifically, this collaboration will "bring some of the game's fan favorites to the game and celebrate their larger-than-life cult hero status alongside the amazing artists at Marvel."...

FIFA 23 to Bring Back Loot Boxes

    Nobody asked for this.

Electronic Arts confirms that FIFA 23 will keep the tradition of loot boxes alive and well. These randomized bundles will again appear in the form of FIFA Ultimate Team (FUT) Packs. These packs can either be earned by playing the game normally or by purchasing with, you guessed it, real world money.

FUT Packs often contain a selection of content such as players and club items that can be used almost exclusively in the Ultimate Team game mode. For...

EA Announces EA Sports FC to Replace FIFA Games

Who needs FIFA? Not EA apparently.

It's no surprise that EA and FIFA haven't seen eye to eye over these past several months. FIFA wanted to charge EA a cool $1 billion (USD) every four years to continue using the FIFA license. EA balked at the idea, citing the cost and creative restrictions as the reason, and decided to part ways from FIFA going forward.

Today, EA officially announced that after the release of FIFA 23, the studio will officially change the name of their...
