Diablo 4 is Reportedly Killing GPUs

If you have an RTX 3080 Ti, you may want to be careful.

PC Gamer yesterday reported on an issue impacting those with Nvidia RTX 3080 Ti graphics cards trying to run the now open Diablo 4 beta. Beginning last weekend with the closed beta, owners of the RTX 3080 Ti have taken to the Blizzard forums and Reddit to report that Diablo 4 killed their graphics cards.

According to what users are reporting, at a random point when playing the Diablo 4 beta, their monitors will go...

EVGA Terminates Partnership with Nvidia Due to "Disrespectful Treatment"

One of the largest, if not the largest Nvidia board partner will no longer produce Nvidia graphics cards.

The tech and hardware focused YouTube channel, Gamers Nexus, broke the news today that EVGA will no longer produce Nvidia graphics cards. This includes the upcoming, and very soon to be released, RTX 40-series generation.

EVGA has been one of the largest, if not the largest third-party board partner if you were looking to purchase an Nvidia based GPU. The quality of...

New World Might Still be Killing Graphics Cards

This isn't necessarily an issue with the game, but a manufacturing issue or coincidence.

In late July 2021, a beta period for Amazon Games' new MMORPG, New World, caused some graphics cards to die. The lack of a framerate cap was initially blamed for killing a small number of RTX 3090 cards, mainly those from EVGA, but that really didn't make much sense. After all, tons of games can run with uncapped framerates and they don't cause PC hardware to die.

    Amazon Games did...

  • EVGA to Replace All RTX 3090 Cards Killed by New World

EVGA to Replace All RTX 3090 Cards Killed by New World

Don't worry, your $2,000+ purchase is safe.

EVGA has confirmed to PCGamer that they will indeed replace all of their Nvidia GeForce RTX 3090 cards that have met an unfortunate and premature end at the hands of the New World MMO. A spokesperson for EVGA says, "yes, all failed 3090s are being replaced."

It's still not particularly clear as to what the reason is behind multiple 3090 (and other high-end GPUs) succumbing to an early death at the hands of the new MMORPG...

New World MMO Blamed for Bricking Nvidia GPUs (Update 2)

This seems to mainly impact RTX 3090 cards made by EVGA.

Update 2 (8:03PM ET on July 21, 2021): JayzTwoCents has tweeted out that he has received reports of 6900 XT and 6800 cards from AMD also encountering issues where they have died while playing New World.

These two card models are the two most powerful cards currently available on the market from AMD.

This does seem to indicate that it's not limited to Nvidia hardware. We'll be sure to update this as new...

Nvidia Explains How they Screwed Up the RTX 3080 Launch

The launch of the RTX 3080 was a disaster.

This week saw an arms race between the PlayStation 5 and the Nvidia RTX 3080 as they both tried their damnedest to be purchased by as many people as possible in as short a time as possible. Both suffered from a small supply of stock. Both suffered from busy websites crashing as people tried to get their orders in. One, the PlayStation 5, had surprised purchase windows popping up over the course of a day following its price and release date...
